Great little guns, very accurate, fantastic tool for teaching youngsters how to shoot, every body should have at least one in their safe just for a training tool

Its like the Marlins....but shaped more like the big grother hunting guns. They aren't expensive and aren't like the $1,000 target .22 rifles....but in that price range you can't do better. They have been around long enough to speak for themselves.

    Excelent little starter guns!

I have gotten them for both my kids, my niece and nephew, and supplied the one for the giveaway that Tazzer's little girl won.

    I highly recomend them!

My hunting partner bought one and really likes it. uses it for as a camp rifle for filling the stew pot. For the very modest price it is a really decent little rifle.

Good little guns. My son has one and it is fairly accurate, safe being a single shot, and fun to shoot. I have found it hard to put the bullet in the chamber with my hands but the son had no problems.

I just picked one up for my 6 year old daughter. Personally I think the gun isn't all what the others have said. I've had alot of problems with the bolt assembly from day one. I found it hard to load the bullet into the chamber. I also didn't care for the peep sights that were on the rifle I'd prefer V sights for starting my kids out. Nothing major, but I'd expect more for a new gun.

When I buy my other daughter a rifle I'll save up about $50 more bucks and buy her something with more quality.

I bought a Rossi break action single shot with the extra .410 gauge barrel for my son's first long gun. The .22 is accurate, has the v-notch sight, and is scaled similarly to the chipmunk, but cost a little less, if I remember correctly. The .410 barrel has problems ejecting shells; haven't de-buggered that issue yet. I just got a goofy one.I have to carry a wooden dowel rod to throw down the barrel to kick it out when it gets stuck! Anyway, for what it's worth, might want to check one out in either the .22/.410 combo or the .22/20ga version. It's no heirloom piece, but is a cheap, versatile trainer gun suitable for young'uns, and you won't cry when they dunk it in the mud!

For very small children I've found the Chipmunk to be the best. Solid walnut stock with Lyman style peep. Accurate as hell. Heirloom quality.
The Cricket is okay but for bigger kids.

The Crickett, Chipmunk, and the little bolt action from Henery are all first rate for youngsters in training. We have one of my friends 6 year old boy shooting nail hung clay's at 100 yards with a Chipmunk. i think we are ready to take him frog hunting...them big bull frogs have some good legs.
