AUTO QUESTION....Turbo's and Exhausts

I have a (Dont Laugh) Chrysler LeBaron GTC turbo convertible. To feel a little more manly Ill mention that a 80's 300ZX. The lebaron is getting progressivly louder and the shop said my exhaust manifold gasket is gone and I need a new one, and some kind of spring bolt set. Im OK with this, but this is my question (he had no idea)
Would a serious exhaust manifold leak really affect my turbo. Its been getting louder and slower. Also, Will this problem F with my sensors and all that good stuff down there? Any knowledge would be helpfull.

Hey, I never laugh at anyone's ride and your's is a cool car.
I'm no mechanic but yes...your turbo, sensors and even valves can be damaged by an exhuast manifold leak. Try to repair it as soon as possible and hope that all the bolts come out and not break off...thus requiring drilling them out and re-threading. That would add a lot of labor to the job.0 -

If I remember correctly, the exhaust drives the turbo but I would think it would have to be a heck of a leak to affect the turbo. It can lead to burnt exhaust valves because of the heat build-up. It's like blowing on a fire. 0 -
its a decent leak, more worried about it screwing with O2 sensors ETC. Also concerned about my cat. That will slow a car down. 0
