time to inform us of where prepared food is made
I for one would like not only to see "date of best used by" but also what country has packaged them. This "outsourcing" of foods sold under
U.S. trade names doesnt give us a clue of to who made and packaged it.
It just might be mighty interesting to see where it was realy made and packaged. This seems to be a well kept secret. WHY? Dont we have a right to know?

We have been getting beef from Argentina for years. I worked in a supermarket meat shop in the '70's and we used frozen lean beef from Argentina mixed with the fat from U.S. beef to make hamburger. Virginia had to change their Food Stamp rules. They originally would not allow the purchase of foreign food with food stamps, so food stamp recipients would buy steak instead of burger. 0 -

i disagree, free trade raises the standard of living for foreiners, while detroying the job market in the U.S. thus lowering the standard of living for our own people, and destroying the small business people and american farmer[V]

a good example is ethanol and bio-diesel. i would just as soon give my american money to an american farmer to produce corn , soy etc and if production is 2.50 a gallon or whatever it comes to pay that than to give it to some foreiner for their gas or diesel product...let them eat it. free trade is a farce, the dumbing down and selling out america to forein blackmailer hoods[:0][B)] 0 -

Most canned foods who's labels I've looked at do indicate where the product originanted. A couple of weeks ago Mrs K brought home some canned pineapple from Vietnam and it was awful [xx(]. The pineapple from Hawaii might cost three times as much, but it tastes ten times better and my wallet will always take a back seat to my stomach [:p]. 0 -
OK, Someone explain to me why we import beef. Don't we grow enough beef in USA? MS is a fairly small state and I see thousands of cows in pastures around here. Like the old commercial, "where's the beef?" Isn't it right here or do we not grow enough for our own use. Where does our beef go?? Tom 0 -

More than likely its sold to whoever will pay the most for it. If you can get more selling on a foreign market then local one, who wouldn't do that??0 -
Years ago our gov. did the whole herd buy out program and bought out the farmers and told them that they could not grow or raise any crops or animals on the land for I believe 10 years after the buyout. The gov. said that the farmers were producing too much and they wanted to lower the production. At the time and still today they subsidize the farmers that produce milk and other products. They did the whole herd buyout so they wouldn't have to keep giving the farmers money. Now the land has grown up to weeds and trees and only good for housing and we buy our beef and other products from overseas. They, the gov., saw this coming back in the 60's and lead us all the way to today. This has taken years of planning on the gov. part and is just a piece of the puzzle for a one world order that some see in the near future. China will lead us and own us if we do not do a big turn around in the Gov. quick. Does anybody on here remember the whole herd buyouts, or were a part of it? 0 -

I buy most of my beef from a local rancher/farmer here, that raises grass fed cattle, and bison.
It is a bit higher in price for sure, but I am supporting a local business, and don't have to worry about what I am eating!0 -
