Question about CCW laws in Illinois

So I had a conversation with an "expert" yesterday that informed me there was a license available for CCW in Illinois. I argued with this guy until I was blue in the face. He said there is a license available that is recognized and accepted by 32 states for CCW and Illinois is one of them. He kept telling me his "friend" had one and he had seen it. Did I argue for nothing or was I correct? I was/am 100% positive the only people allowed to CCW in Illinois were Law Enforcement.

    There is a "Tan Card" that allows some to carry a gun for work.
    Those able to apply are Security Guards and Private Eyes must be used to and from work only.

    Regular people can not get this card.

    PIs can carry in Illinois?? I didn't know that. They would never know if you were heading to/from a job or just out getting groceries.

    I believe there is an insurrance requirement -- not sure what the dollar amount is though.

    Some PIs can carry, must be a licensed P.I. and go through the training,,,the average person has NO CHANCE for a conceiled carry..nambu

    IL. has some very strict gun laws. They only allow shotguns for hunting. You have to have a F.O.I.D. card to buy a gun or ammo. At gun shows you have to show your card to handle a gun. They have a 24 hr. wait on long gun purchases. I am from MO. and I can buy a long gun at an IL. show and take it home that day. So it does not surprise me that they don't issue carry permits.
