Ar 15 fund!
Well I have started saving for an AR 15 I want the rifle version not the m4 version with adjustable stock. I want to spend a max of 1200 and this isnt for collection this is a 100% shooter I want a real reliable gun that is not junk. I want it to be NIB so what brand/model should I get. and how much should I pay?? thanks!

HBAR, I don't know if they make them in anything other than Match Competition, but that's it. during the AWB I saw them going for about 2800, but I don't know what you can get one for nowadays. 0 -
You can have 2 NIB 20"AR rifles for 1200.00 0 -
Krinkov-have you thought of building one yourself? That way you can set it up exactly like you want and for a bit cheaper. 0 -
How's come everything on this board is Rock River? Doesn't anyone like DPMS Panther Arms? They are priced about the same. 0 -
We have an M4 - my youngest built it up - loves it.
(My favorite - at the moment is an old M1 carbine[:D])0 -
dpms is good also, like the RRA 2-stage trigger for the $ 0 -
My Bushmaster is the best made, best fitting, no rattle trap, working machine Ive ever shot in the AR class. The tolerances are amazingly close. For the money, you cant go wrong. RRA, DPMS, Armalite are fine as well. Stay away from the Oly's(from what Ive heard).
Good luck0 -
Assemble you own for $645+ transfer an shipping:
Complete DPMS lower -- $199:
http://www.rguns.net/009_page6.html
Complete Delton chrome lined upper -- $445
http://www.del-ton.com/AR_15_Barrel_Assembly_p/dt1012.htm
Assembly consists of pushing two captive take down pins.
Buying it in 2 pcs allows you to more or less spread out payments into 2. The upper can ship direct to your home.
I build a Delton Carbine using the above vendors. Good shooter!0 -
They don't get any better than this[;)]

I'd go for the used Colt H-Bar before anything else.
Mrs. Plaid doesn't know it yet, but that's the plan for this summer.0 -

another vote for build your own. from scratch. striiped lower for around 100. buy the parts kit you want(nm, field grade etc) put it together. then build the upper in the same fashion except id say buy a barelled upper.
putting it together yourself give you some very tangible benefits. its excatly the way you want it right down to the internal parts. two, if you can build it from scratch, you can fix it if something breaks and trouble shoot glitches. not to mention care free upgrades. you'll know the firearm top to bottom and crown to butt plate.0 -
If you live anywhere next to me i can get you a heck of a deal on a great AR-15 brand new in the box.
This is what it is.
DPMS AR-15,
Rock River 2-Stage trigger,
Rock River Bolt,
20'' Barrel with 1 N 9'' Twist,
A-2 Stock,
Removable Carry Handle,
This is the Best AR-15 i have ever had.
I live in North Platte, Ne.
E-mail me if you are interested.0 -
Armalite and Colt should give you a mil-spec rifle, just like the military uses. Dull, uneven finish, hard edges...a rifle ready for battle. RRA and Bushmaster will fire just as well, just as accurate and have a wayyy better fit and finish. I chose an RRA Entry Tactical for mine, to me its the best gun for the money, however its an M4. I did alot of studying and handling everything I could find before I made my decision and I dont regret mine at all (the trigger is so sweet). You'll see tons of Colt fanboys knock everything but Colt but I can tell you I wasnt impressed even in the least at the NIB Colts I handled.
For what you want, building one would probably be best, like others have already said.
