Programmer Chip
I was out in the front yard waxing my truck today when a guy stopped and had a programmer chip he was trying to sell. Saw the truck and stopped to see if I had one or wanted one. Made for Dodge 98-02. Mine is a 98.
Do these things work like they say they do? He told me I'd get about 90 more hp and 110 lbs torque out of it. Reasonable? He said he had a 3500 dually that he had it on prior to selling it.
Said he paid around $500 for it and would get me the reciept if I was interested. Wants $200. Good price? I've never had one of these things and know nada about them. He offered to put it on and let me try it before buying.
I'd appreciate any help you have to offer.

They work - some better than others. Get the receipt, pay by check, and quickly install it. If it appears to work, let the check clear. If it doesn't stop payment on the check. It would be best to have him bring it over on a Friday, after the banks close. That will give you the weekend to test it.

A friend of mine had one installed on an '05 Dodge 2500. The difference in power was like night and day. $200 isn't a bad price at all. I'd jump on it. Nothing to the installation, either. You can have it installed in less than 30 minutes. 0 -
The ones I've seen, you had the prograning box but the "program" could only be on one vehicle at a time. Basically if a fellow installed the program on his truck, then sold you the box, the box would be useless. It has to be removed from the first truck, put back on the box and then it could go to yours. Hope that makes sense.

I bought it. Works like a dream. I'm anxious to pull my tractor with it.
Unbelievable boost in power. You could go through some tires easily on the high performance setting. [;)]
Best $200 I've ever spent on my truck.0
