get this one 3,000 yrd shot{s}
i figured i would share this ignorance with you guys for a chuckle
my neighbor in the neighborhood i just moved from gives me a call, for the most part he is eager and learning about firearms, well a guy brings over a Remington 30-06, trying to sell it to my other ex-neighbor, for a grand, claims he can shoot a group at 3,000 yards {that's 1.745 miles}, i just laugh because get this it has no scope, he almost has them convinced he has killed deer at 1,400 yards with this gun with open sights, well he is a older African American who obviously has some issues, i told them he is not a black man he is actually a white man who is so full of sheet he appears black, and i would be glad to invite him to a range and offer him the grand if he could hit a target at 600 yrds 4 out of 5 times, i have not heard a reply yet

Yeah ... but oranges are easy.0 -
Now you guys are being premature in your judgment. He's talking 3K that the bullet travels to the target, not the distance in a straight line from the rifle to the target. He shoots the rifle in a near vertical position. The bullet travels up, the Earth turns while the bullet is on the journey, gravity finally slows the bullet to a stop, at which time it starts accelerating downward. The Earth rotates the target right into the path of the bullet and presto, X-ring!! Actually to call this merely a 3K shot in really an understatement he could have gone for 10 or 12K if he'd really thought about it. 0 -
Gee- I have shot deer at 1400 meters. I WAS adjusting fire for a 155mm artillery battery at the time, tho...[:p] FWIW- a MOA group at 3000 yards would be 30 inches across. Hate to see the paster you would use on that target! 0 -
dam he's good. i guess i can,t even see that far anymore 0 -
I shot some pretty impressive groups on the 1000 inch range at Fort Knox. [8D] 0 -

I didn't want to reply to this but I can't stand it..I shot at a coyote this morning and before the bullet hit him I actually had time to smoke a cig between the shot and the hit...beat that[}:)][8D] 0 -

NOT 3,000 yds, but, I get MOA with my Jennings .25 at 1,000 yds. 0 -
This "story" seems an awful lot like the stories I hear from the 16-17yr old kids who get a brand new factory stock Mustang. You ask them if they ever run it, they tell you it does 11's in the quarter mile.[}:)][;)][:D]

Wow killing deer at 1400 yrds, I thought anything under 3000 yrds was unsportsman like. And he wasn't talking about one of them terrorist weapons.[:D][:D] 0
