Wasted some time...
Okay today was THE day to shoot, NO WIND, in Oklahoma that is a rare thing. Full sun, and I felt good.
I took my daughters .223 out (Compliments of BDJ) and I shot from 100 yards, then backed up to 200. That thing will flat shoot a tiny group. It loves the factory 55gr moly coated hollow points.
Now for the wasted part of my day. I was going to shoot my 30-06, shot yesterday with some Greek surplus ammo and they sucked big time. So to hit my target I think to myself.... shoot your deer loads.... This part was a good idea. Then I thought why not shoot something that I can see when I hit, so we have dozens of eggs that are old, cant sell them fast enough, so I think, hey why not shoot at eggs. Then I came up with the idea of drilling 1in holes in a board, and set the end of the eggs in the hole to hold them still. I got a couple saw horses to set the boards on and I had a target that held 24 eggs, that is way more than I can shoot with the 06 so I think may as well use Erica's 223, ya know less recoil.
I load all this stuff up in my little trailer behind my mower, set it all up on my shooting table sight in and fire the first shot with the 30-06. Well crapola, I hit low blew the board in two pieces and dropped all the eggs. I did not think it was worth trying a second time. I could not have hit that board if I had aimed at it, let alone hit it center like that. Oh well it was a good idea. Next time I will hang the eggs from a string , keep them away from the board plus they will move make it more fun.
At least I got out of the house for most of the morning, I did have fun even though hitting the board was not the high point of my day.

A PERFECT day to shoot!
82 degrees, light wind and not a cloud in the sky.
Too bad I'm at work....again!0 -
Lol, that sounds like my luck. How long did you spend making it? 0
