hey, first post, if you decide to stick around, WELCOME!

Both are nice firearms, Both have parts and accessories galore. SKS's in general are more accurate, but that depends on witch model you compare a SKS to a AK with. SKS's seem to be a little cheaper. Nether is a tack driver at 100yrds but with the right ammo and a little tuning up 3" groups is not out of the question. I have a few of each and have done trigger jobs on all of them and shot cheap ammo and accuracy is never a issue with none of them. Both are very fun fire arms to shot. So my suggestion would be to get both.
Welcome to the forum.0 -
Get at least one of each before "BILLARY" Gets them. 0 -
oh, he meant a RIFLE.
they are totally different, only sharing the same ammo and quality (?) of workmanship.
i like the SKS a lot and if you don't mind loading stripper clips, they are a blast. SKS are usually cheaper too, and hardier IMHO, although in actual combat conditions I'd rather have a high quality AK.0 -
for a general all around plinker rifle I have owned and loved the SKS.
They are milled receivers, simple to field strip, virtually indestructable and a blast to shoot.
The better SKSs have milled trigger groups also.
With a stock change and proper scope mounted they can be accurate enough to hunt with.
The AK is a great rifle in the battlefield and for a fun shooter/collectable.0 -
Both are great at doing what they were designed to do... 0 -
Prefer the SKS for more accurate fire..better stock style IMHO
the AK is great to dump a lot of lead down range..
rear sights suck on both...prefer a US style peep sight any day
either one is very reliable...can't lose either way...
matter of personal preference0 -
AK has my vote all the way for a fun shooter. Easier to reload, tons of silly tactical upgrades available, and relentless reliability. 0 -
both 0 -
Norinco made a rifle with an AK milled receiver. Best of both worlds. Saw one at a gun show in Collinsville Illinois last Sunday. Good luck finding one like that.

I don't complain about an AK's accuracy, but mine is a red headed step child of the AK family.0 -
Welcome aboard, I think your question is a matter of prefrence, and the AK is usually more expensive. I have both, the AK is more fun for me to shoot. Good Luck!! 0 -
Welcome aboard.
Personally I prefer the SKS.0 -
Gotta have both.[;)] 0 -
I have both and they're both awsome 0 -
SKS "D" or "M" model.
Takes AK mags.
Best semi auto in 7.62x39 ever made.0 -
depends on what you want to get done. if you don't want to spend the $$ and "just want a rifle", go with a bone stock SKS. you'll be happy with it. 0 -

Get both. The ammo is still cheaper than .223. 0 -
what is a riffle?
What should start with a capitol letter as it is a sentence. What is a riffle ? [:D] Since we are correcting spelling. [:D]0 -
I prefer to use my AK's more than my SKS. I like my AK's a lot more as well. 0 -
SKS for me ! 0 -
AK 0 -
Depending on if you can own them in your state. I like the AK which is being slapped together in a company in Texas. SKS if you can't get an AK in your state. 0 -
