    Unles the springs are cut then streched this gun will NOT work.
    The gas port is to close to the barrel end to produce enough pressure to function. If the springs are cut there will NOT be enough pressure to pick up a round and chamber.
    These guns look good but do not function properly.

    the universal rifles wouldn't even function, let alone a chopped up version of one.

    I guess it's my oddball nature surfacing again, but I have a Universal M-1 carbine and it functions flawlessly. I will admit that I don't shoot it a great deal, but whenever I do, it works. Not to say others don't; just that mine does.
