Less trouble to clean: AR15 or M1a?
For those of you that would know, which one is easier to clean and maintain: an AR-15 or M1a?
The topic came up with some friends and I realized I had no idea since I've never had to maintain either one (don't own either one, sadly).
Anyway, all answers are appreciated.

I think the AR15 is easier to clean. It NEEDS to be, since it really hates dirt. M1A/M14 will function when dirty, long after one needs to start using the AR/M16 for a club - and not a very good club, at that.

M1A
Fewer parts to clean and fewer small parts to lose or break.

They're both left out of the gun cabinet for a cleaning for three consecutive days (cleaning sessions) after firing. So it's the same for me. Joe 0 -
AR15. Although I have cleaned AR15's probably over a thousand times and M1A's maybe a hundred. I just might not have all the tricks down yet.[;)] 0 -
M1A then after the AK of course 0 -

Although I rarely find a firearm that is hard to maintain I find the AR15 one of the easiest to clean and maintain.
pop the back take down pin and pull the charging handle and bolt carrier out the back of the upper receiver. That takes all of about 10 seconds.
Then use a chamber brush and solvent and the rest is as easy as cleaning any rifle barrel.0 -
Six in one, half a dozen in the other for me. 0 -
I feel the AR is an easier weapon to dis and reassemble, but the M1A is the easier one to clean. Not nearly as many nook and crannies on the M1A like there is in the standard AR lower reciever. I haven't even started on the gas tube yet.... 0 -
