I wanted to address this comment. In the links below, you will find an article from the Army Times admitting troops were exposed to Sarin gas...as many as 300,000 soldiers. In the second link, you will find a list of units that the military knows beyond any shadow of a doubt that were exposed to Sarin Gas.

GWS is not made up...it's not a figment of someone's imagination. I believe that comments like the one you made are a disservice to disabled vets. Please do not take this as any kind of personal attack, b/c that is not the way it's intended. I just wanted to give you some information that might help you formulate a more educated position when it comes to GWS...and in the end, hopefully help our cause.[:)]

    i have 2 friends that were in the gulf war and both suffer from what they describe as nerve tremors, muscle failure, and severe itching. they were exposed to something, these boys i can see anytime struggle, and they don't lie. they were strong and healthy when they left.[;)][V]

    Interesting read. This paragraph was real interesting:

    And they have advice for as many as 300,000 troops exposed to small doses of sarin in 1991: Don't use bug spray, don't smoke and don't drink alcohol.


    Well, we all know of at least one person on here who does those things anyway and brags about it by posting pics.

    Anyway, you should be getting a card in the mail from me anyday. Please use the money to help your daughter with Christmas. Kids dont need to suffer at this time of year. Merry Christmas. Mike.

It has not always been clear whether these symptoms were related to Gulf War service or the occurrence of illnesses in Gulf War veterans is higher than comparable populations.

    Symptoms attributed to this syndrome have been wide-ranging, including chronic fatigue, loss of muscle control, headaches, dizziness and loss of balance, memory problems, muscle and joint pain, indigestion, skin problems, shortness of breath, and even insulin resistance. Brain cancer deaths, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease) and fibromyalgia are now recognized by the Defense and Veterans Affairs departments as potentially connected to service during the Gulf War.[1]

    Since the end of the Gulf War, the United States Veteran Administration and the British Ministry of Defense have conducted numerous studies on Gulf War Veterans. The latest studies have determined that while the physical health of deployed veterans is similar to that of nondeployed veterans, there is an increase in 4 out of the 12 medical conditions reportedly associated with Gulf War syndrome (fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, eczema, and dyspepsia[2]. They have also concluded that while mortality was significantly higher in deployed veterans most of the increase was due to automobile accidents rather than disease This excess mortality was consistent with patterns of postwar mortality among veterans of previous wars, and was nonexistent after seven years. [3]

    Don, I would tend to put more stock in the DOD coming out and publicly admitting what's going on, than I would in some Wikipedia's out dated definition of the term.

    From NBC handbook-choking agents-this agent will produce coughing,choking,nausea and headaches in casualties.Delayed effects include rapid and shallow breathing,painful cough,discomfort,fatigue and shock.No longterm effects are stated in the handbook.Im trying to locate my folders on chemical agents,never thought id need them after leaving the Corps .

    Ques 1.Study by whom? Ques 2.Possible higher # of accidents due to nerve damage from an agent?Ques 3.To me the Epidemiological evidence is clear that something has happened.This so called test was averaged against Persian Gulf Soldier and Non Persian Gulf Soldiers.What about doing the test percentage wise against Civilian persons.Maybe it would bring up what the Government could be covering up?

    We need to find this out.The Chemists who worked in the labs that created these substances,how are they doing?The Kurds that were gassed by Saddam ,the ones who didnt die,i know they still suffer greatly.Dont get me wrong,their afflictions are much greater than anything i suffer.Also another point, some Vets are more susceptible to elements than others.Its the accumulative effect that is dangerous.Small amount of chem A + small amount of chem B + small amount of chem C =[xx(]

    I will be honest. I believe there are true medical problems that Desert Storm vets are dealing with.

    Was it caused by Sarin (GB) agents? Possibly...possibly not. The CDC states that neurological problems in mild to moderate exposure routinely subside in a few weeks to a few months. But it could be Sarin exposure.

    It could be another agent (biological or nerve)that we did not know we were exposed to.

    It could have been the PB Tabs we were instructed to take. I have always been medical in the military (25 years) and I couldnt bring myself to self medicate with those because it said "EXPERIMENTAL USE" on the packaging.

    Cant say what causes it, but I believe that it exists.

    There has been millions spent to study this. No conclusive answer. My question is how is someone who has all of the "symptoms" able to do more than other normal people? Most of the "Symptoms" I have. I attribute it to old age and stupidity in my youth. I still get up and go to work everyday. I rely on no one to help me get through the day. I may be just a man. Don

    When i signed on the dotted line,i knew there was risk,a risk i was willing to take.I work 50 hrs. a week with the reliance of God.Some aches and pains i do have are also attributed to my youth,i do believe GWS is real though.Listen Fella,s im goin Christmas shopping, ought to be a real Circus tonite[:o)]see ya,ll later!
