Browning Citori 525 Sporting Laminated Nickel
Has anyone seen one of these in person? I am thinking of purchasing one the Browning 525 sporting models and the Nickel barrel/laminated stock version has peaked my interest. Here is a link to the auction.

I asked him for some additional pictures but don't have them yet.

are you dead set on a browning? Also what are you planning to use it for? If you ask me brownings will get the job done and look nice doing it but there are guns out there just as good with less attraction that do the job too. Just my .02
I am not saying you shouldnt buy a browning but it's always good to compare in the gun world.0 -
Sporting clays, Skeet and a little bird hunting.
I have a couple Berettas and the drop just isn't enough for me. The drop of the 525 just seems to fit my frame better than the Berettas.
What other models do you suggest? No $10,000 brands please[:D]0 -
I know remington has a spartan I have heard mixed things. Mossberg now owns a company from Turkey heard really good things about them and the cost is some where a round 500 bucks they also sell stock space droppers. Ruger Red labels are another one to consider. 0 -
CZ Redhead...
I've held a few of these, they're beautiful and very nice.

Forget the Spartans!
The Mossberg is the Silver Reserve, it is made by Khan, in Turkey.
They are OK,....I own one, but this fellow is not looking for an entry level O/U.
He has Berretas already!
CZ, also has a line, but once again, made in Turkey, by a company they bought out, the name escapes me at the moment.
I used to have an old Browning Citori, and sold it years ago. It was a beauty!
Will the Mossberg Silver Reserve knock down clays,......sure, and that is why I bought one, to see if I was really going to get back into the sport.
That Browning is a wonderful gun, as long as you are willing to pay the price![8D]0 -

CZ's guns are Huglu(sp?)
Don't forget to check out the Weatherby's.0 -
That is correct,......Huglu!
They appear a step above the Khans, and certainly the Russian made Spartan.0 -
Beretta or Browning. Either one of those will be tight for thousands of rounds at the range.
I would spring for that Citori if it fits you.0 -
I'm pretty set on the 525 for the O/U but am always willing to look at other manufacturers. I haven't looked at the Weatherby's I will check them out.
I have been looking at the CZ/Huglu for a side by side 20 ga field gun. I should have looked at their O/U also [:I]0 -

That is my Mossberg Silver Reserve,.......nice enough for the money, around $460.00, but no comparison to the Citori!0 -
So back to the original question, what are your opinions on the nickel finish and laminated stock? Better or worse than the traditional finish? 0 -
damn how could i go and forget the CZ's they make fine shotguns. 0 -
I like the nickel receiver but don't care for the nickel barrels.
I prefer fancy wood over the laminate on a shotgun.0 -
I'm with MVP on that one 100%, for what it's worth.
Not saying that gun above is not attractive, but a Citori, you want more of a "work of art".[:D]0 -
I have several 525 and 525 Golden Clays. The finish is tough and you can't beat the Brownings for long service. I'm not sure that it is a nickel finish, but it is tough. It will outlast a blue finish. I haven't seen the light finish on barrels before, but is should hold up well, and be better than bluing for rust purposes.
Like I said you can't go wrong with a Browning. I have several including an XT that has about 20,000 rounds through it. Still locks up tight.0 -
The nickel barrel and laminated stock is definitely a different look from the classic O/U. I really like the look of the "Golden Clays" model. But if I spent that kind of money on a shotgun it would only end up a safe queen. I'd be afraid I'd scratch it[;)]

Now that last pic does somthing for me.
BEAUTIFUL!!![8D][:p]0 -
I use mine for Wobble doubles, Skeet, and Dove, Chucker, Quail, and Pheasant. It is not a safe queen. I have a couple of Grade 6s that are safe queens. 0 -

Me too,.........also check the weights, as typically a laminate stock is heavier. May be a plus, or a minus, depending on your likes, or dislikes!0 -

That would reflect either the difference in our budgets or risk tolerence [:D]0 -
Oh,.....go ahead, you only live once, and can't take it with ya!
Of course that is from the guy with the 460 buck Mossberg![8D]0 -
Maalox, if you're really interested in the Golden Clays, let me know. I can SO beat that price on that GB auction! 0 -
