sig question
I just bought a like new Sig p220 .45 with a lasermax sight. The Rock Island .45 I bought turned out to be junk. My question on the Sig is : Is the hammer supposed to stay off the firimg pin when it is in the de-cocked or un-cocked position? I've never had a gun which did this. Once someone tells me it is okay, I'll go out and shoot it.

I GOT A SIG P-226.WHEN I CLEAN IT I NORMALLY PUT A GOOD BIT OF OIL IN THE SLIDE RAILS AND IN THE GROOVES IN THE SLIDE THAT THEY RUN IN,NOT DRIPPING BUT AFTER RUB OIL ON IT I PUT TWO OR THREE DROPS IN EAGH SLIDE RAIL GUIDE IVE BEEN TOLD THAT YOU CAN OVER OIL A GUN I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THIS SOUNDED EXCESSIVE? 0 -
sigs are a reliable and fun gun yes? then why are they so expensive to buy one? even used they go for nearly what they do nib retail. 0 -
Does anyone know if SIG ever made a pistol in 10mm? I have a co-worker who thought he heard of such a thing. I've never seen one so I figured I'd throw it out here for the heck of it.

Why id it that the Sig-Pro 2340 costs so much less than the other models[?][?][?]. I've seen these suckers for $400 flat.

I agree with ECC, there great tools of the trade. Its hard to beat the feeling of a SIG in your hand. When I buy a Handgun I want to use for self defense I wont it to shoot great right out of the box after a clean up. SIG's do just that, you can expect them to fire every time with out a break in period. There quality and reliability are intended to last a life time. Even their polymer Model the SIG Pro is also a great gun. 0 -

unfortunately, for me, as i would love to try one before i decide to buy one, no one i have been to has a sig for range rental. colt, s&w, glock, springfield...no sigs. 0 -

I'm running into the same problem, but look at it this way: Most car dealerships wouldn't have a problem with you test-driving a Chevy. Said car dealership probably wouldn't let you test drive a Ferarri [;)]0 -

My local Dealer told me he no longer carried SIG's because they went factory direct. That you had to buy so mmany to begin with and keep a certain number in stock? He said the didnt move because of their price. 0 -

If I remember correctly, it's only 5 that you have to purchase and they can be the factory reconditioned guns too. You do not have to keep a certain number in stock. Several models can still be purchased through wholesalers, as well. You can do a 5 gun buy in for as little as $1600, if you stick to something like the Mosquito.0 -
They are one of the best made guns out there. Will shoot some unbelievable groups right out of the box. Mine rarely jam and are Glock reliable.
The 220 is a pretty nice all around pistol. Yes, quite expensive but no more so than the nice new kimber custom pistols in single action.
I bought the 245 for carry and and like it as a carry gun for the woods. Very safe, double action and easy to conceal! If I had it to do over again I would have bought the full size 220 with the full size grip.
The p232 in 380 has got to be at the top of my list as favorites. Fits the hand perfectly and has got to be one of the best of the 380s ever produced. Tight group shot placement and a light kick make it a good choice for concealed carry in my humble opinion.0 -

Comparatively speaking, SIGs aren't really all that expensive. Maybe $100 more than a comparable Glock, if there is such a thing. And they work. Every time. That's gotta be worth something. 0 -
ok, i understand reliability. love the design for the .380. in fact that's one of the 2 i wanna get. but for people on a fixed budget, like me, we have to sacrifice performance and reliability for a cheaper plinker. i'm not looking for fair play, just more opportunity for those of us who scrape pennies from our floor boards for 10 months and still can't afford a used one. 0 -

If you wish for a cheap reliable semi auto go with a 9mm
I sure like sigs for their looks too but ive found a good number of used 5906 smith and wessons for 300-400 bucks on gunbroker.0 -
well, i found a mak pa-63. everyone says that's a good and reliable gun. as soon as i pay it off, i'll be able to find out. 0
