Who else got the DOT letter today?

You know, the one that says if you own a truck over 10000 gvw and you cross state lines, you now have to pay $39.00 per year for the privalage to drive your truck across state lines. Now keep in mind you still will have all the trip fees and such. I called the Iowa DOT and asked them what exactly I was getting for my money and they told a recipt! So it looks to me like it's just a back-door tax. Even the farmers will have to pay it.

    wife and kids pick up the mail 99.9% of the time so i'll pry find it about 10 months from now[:(!]

    yup got it , also got the other one where they want to know how many miles i drive , how many trucks and trailers i own , what i haul, ect.

    i have to call them monday to see how to list a 1 ton pickup truck that is used both for hauling items in its bed and pulling a goose neck trailer ,ie is it a straight truck or is it a truck/tractor . they don't have pickups listed nor do they have a place to write it in [xx(]

    sounds very communistic to me. isn't that what they do over there? you have to have "papers" in order to cross any line and pay a "fee" for the privilege. socialism or extortion...this should have been voted upon by the citizens.
