need help on 97 dodge grand caravan
neighbor had his drivers rearview mirror busted out while parked on the street. how do we get it fixed? where do they sell those replacement stick in mirrors? i got one once for my dads gmc truck and it just stuck right in, but my garage friend did it for me.
also too, 219,000 miles on this old minivan. whats a book value on it if he wanted to sell it? runs fine, no abuse, just high mileage and drinks a little tranny fluid every month.

go to KBB.com for the value, check out a local salvage yard to find the mirror, it'll only cost a few bucks.. 0 -
have you tried any local glass shops ? they can usally order any mirror replacement you would need and install, resale value is goin to be low dont let them get thier hopes up,maybe trans pan is leaking? simple gasket might just fix the consumption problem.just my my 2 cents 0 -
Bobski, you migfht find one of those stick in replacement mirrors at Advance Auto, Auto Zone or O'Rielly's Auto Parts. I know I have seen them there. I do beleive NAPA has them also. Pep Boys. 0 -
Value $700 - $2000 depends on model and options. The high mileage is a killer.
The Dodge mirrors are replaced as a whole unit. I just put one on the wife's '06 G. Caravan for $132, electric adjust and heated.
You can find replacement ones online for ~$50 for electric, and ~$35 for manual.
With it being that old though, Mk 19 has it...held to the local salvage yard.0 -

not necessarily true. i am an auto glass tech.
if the glass is the only thing busted...$20 - 30. installed in under 5 minutes.
if the backing plate is gone...replace the mirror assembly. you can buy your own or have a glass shop do it for you. but you will pay a mark up if you do that. junk yards and aftermarket is good, dealer prices for oem is steeper. just depends on if you wanna spend the time on diy or let a pro do it.
first find out 2 things: is it electric? is it heated? most heated mirrors have the wavy lines diagram on the bottom center of the glass itself. if it doesn't have the lines, but still has the backing plate, peel it back far enough to feel behind it for the plugs.
also, if you diy, do not use silicone, it WILL dry out quickly and you will lose your mirror again.
assemblies are pretty easy if you take your time diy style. most are held on by 3 bolts and either 8mm or 10mm nuts. but be careful because you can drop them inside the door then you have to take the blasted panel off and a whole mess of stuff to get it back.
if you're not sure about diy, call a glass shop.
