I don't know anything about the press your talking about, but used it a good way to go for a single stage and a good way to learn the basic's of reloading.
I'd reccomend you don't spend too much money on them because if you shoot much, you'll probably be ready to switch to a progressive press once you get comfortable ...
I still use my single stage press when I pull bullets from 8mm surplus and to re-powder and re-seat bullets of some Turkish ammo I bought a few years ago ... so even when you move up, you may still have uses for the single.0 -
Not familiar with that particular press but all of the Herters presses that I ever saw (and I owned one for a while) did not take the RCBS-style shellholders, which are probably the most common style. I do know that there were adapters made so the Herters presses could use these shellholders; I would check first. 0 -
I don't know the particular press either. But I have heard about the shellholder problem. It would probably still be a neat collectible but from my experience, that is about all it's worth. I just picked up a neat Herters Powder measure for about $26. If you decide to get the press and want a measure to go with it, I will photo it and list it on GB for you. 0 -
Herter old yes, however much bigger than the newer presses, still very functional, great for large caliber shells, I had my shell holder made for $45.00 I load Weatherby 378 - 338 and 416 Rigbys with mine, I dont have a 50 caliber to load but the experts say they can handle them also. 0 -
here's the link to the press, check it out and tell me what you think.http://columbus.craigslist.org/spo/338307694.html 0 -
kimberkid = Very good advice.
If you become a serious reloader a progressive press is the
way you'll eventually want to go.

zip,
oh i plan to eventually get a 3 stage press, but i thought this was a steal. but i can't find anything on it other that what some have posted here. one guy thought it was for large caliber like .50bmg and i sure don't plan on doing that. i'm a firm believer in KISS - keep it simple, stupid.0
