that's right guys. i am in search of a list of all the firearm manufacturers that you know. my goal is to research every single one of them, find out what they make, and if i ever win the lottery, buy something from every single one of them. pistols, rifles, cannons by wallie...

with each manufacturer you list...tell me one (1) product you would recommend. you don't have to say why just tell me a good piece that they made.

    EMM Firearms, Inc. - EMM Model 1. It costs two million dollars and looks exactly like an old Smith and Wesson 686, but trust me, it's worth every penny! (I accept checks, cash, and gold)[:D]

    Spurgemastur Firearms Inc. Looks just like the EMM Model 1. It costs 1.9 million dollars, but is much rarer than the EMM model 1.

    Seriously, collecting is an art that has no rational basis. If you don't already know what turns you on, maybe you shouldn't be a collector (that's me).

    If you want to collect, figure out what turns you on and then figure out what's collectible in that category. First step: obtain the Blue Book of Gun Values, and go from there.

    But if you really want to collect, why not just acquire what turns you on? Maybe it's valuable, maybe not. But if it makes you happy......it'll probably make a collection that'll make somebody else happy, somewhere down the road.

    Caveat: all of this is coming from a guy who never really understood 'collectibility' in the first place.

    Remington: Remington 870 (12 gauge)
    Mossberg: Mossberg 590 (12 gauge)
    H&K: H&K USP 45 (.45 acp)
    IMI/Magnum Research: Jericho/Baby Eagle (9mm)
    Norinco: SKS (Type 56 carbine if you want to be technical) (7.62x39)
    Ruger: GP100 (.38 special/.357 magnum)
    AMT: DSR-1 sniper rifle (.308 winchester, .338 lapua magnum)
    Giat: FAMAS (.223 bullpup)
    Korth: Korth Combat Revolver (.38 special/.357 magnum)

    That's all I can think of right now. I don't care too much for Springfield, Kimber, or Armalite, so that's why they're not up there.

    really, i'm not looking for collection type fireams. or maybe i am. i dunno. like git r done collects rock island, others collect rugers etc etc. i just don't know what all makers are out there, what they have, accessories, candy bars....

    thinking of it as a collection, it would be quite an undertaking, to be sure, to own at least one product from every manufacturer out there. some only make rifles, some pistols, many do both, all do different calibers. granted, once i have a list of all manufacturers, i would shop their catalogs, find the one that i like (caliber, aesthetics, practicality for me) then choose from that point...

    of course i still preface this with...if i ever win the lottery...

    or if bill gates changes his will and names me his irrevocable beneficiary because i saved his life when he started to choke on a piece of biscotti he bought at the local starbucks and we became best friends and all. it could happen.

    see...i hadn't even thought about specific rounds like .22 or .380 or nato

    awesome seriously...pistols, rifles, flare guns, domestic, foreign, alien (those little green guys can do more than anal probe ya know[;)]) single shot, double barrel, sa/da, pump, breech, flintlock, muzzle loaded, percussion, reed, brass, strings...oh wait, that's music stuff...um...sniper, bullpup..i'm an equal opportunity kinda guy[:D]

    If I win the lottery I might start collecting falling block actions. And also S&W revolvers. And if the lottery takes are good enough, I'll also start collecting Colt 1911 variants, with an emphasis on the Colt brand.

    But for now I'm pretty poor and I buy what sounds fun to shoot.

    I think if you don't have something in mind that already sounds superbly collectible, then you should just buy what you like until you discover that 'superbly collectible' item. There's not much money in trading collectibles, so you'd better love what you're trading if you're going to get into it.
