Range today with Mormon friends.

The Dutchman
Had a good time shooting. One guy brought an XD45 with laser sights. another brought a Beretta 92. A third brought an AR15 with a .22 barrel. Two other guys were shooting for the first time and did not own a gun. I brought my Taurus 651SS.

Everyone did well punching holes in paper. One shocker is the one guy who came was a bishop and he was black! I have heard that Mormons don't allow blacks at Church. WRONG. This guy was as normal as the rest of them. Went to breakfast after. A good time and no talk about religion. ANOTHER MYTHBUSTER. [:D]

    Its a good thing to have friends that have a different perspective on life. it gives a good base to see how the ideas in your head match up with some one from a different background.it might even keep you from becoming too racist, (I'm not saying you are). I envy you. and I congradulate you on reaching out. I wish I had that opportunity.

    The LDS Church changed the policy about blacks in the priesthood in 1972. And FYI polygamy was abandoned in 1890.

    Mormons try to have food for a year (recently raised to two years??) on hand. They often have a Ruger Mini-14 ("Mormon Mafia Gun" - just kidding about the mafia part) as part of the Home Defense plan.

    Mormons are good folk, in my book.

    Both of my wives have had some connection with the LDS folk.

    You have to go back some years in Mormon literature to find the antiblack bias. This wasn't a myth, just sanitized over the years.

    I assumed that Mormons, as many Americans, would back a candidate for reasons un-related to the issues. IE. Mormons back Romney because he is Mormon, blacks back Obama because he is black or Communists backing Hilary because she is...oh, well you get it).
    None of the Mormons I spoke with are backing Mitt Romney. I was surprised in a way. They seemed to study the man pretty well and know he does not support he conservative values they do.

    Mormons are good people. For the most part the live a clean lifestyle and have good families. They can get out of hand with their holyer that you but are still good people. Just my .02
