swamp thing
Sir,
You know, I was in the middle of typing this big, multi-paragragh response to you, but, in the middle of paragraph 5, it just started to sound like a 6 year old crying to mommy. Then I thought, "Well that just sound childish."
Two men with different training backgrounds can work better together than two who who try to out stomp each other.
In the future I hope that I can defer to you as a resource should we face similar situations, on or off the boards.
ADDENDUM:
Sir, moments after this, I saw your post to me. Not only do I accept you apology, I offer mine as well. Your background may be more extensive that mine, I do not contend that. As I said before, I do hope that in the future you will allow me to use you as a resource. I do like to refer to people who are more knowledgable that I on a given subject. But I do have to admit, on a purely diagnosis standpoint, my best one was a guy that came into the shop once asking why his gas pedal squeeked when he drove. After driving the car with no results I had him drive me around so i could listen. After 10 minutes I heard it and asked him if he always wore the same shoes. When he pushed down the accelerator he'd squinch his toes and move the insole just enough to squeek. He came back in a week later wearing new shoes and said the squeek was gone. hmmmmmmmm....maybe I should sell shoes.......
Anyway, apology accepted....apology and hand in friendship extended.

I have no problems with that at all. If I can be of service I will gladly do so, and would hope that it is the same with you. Life is too short to let burrs get under ones skin. Glad that we can come to common grounds. We all benefit from the wisdom of each other here. swamp_thing 0 -
I think I'm going to cry! 0 -
i agree...burrs do tend to itch alot.
plus i thought the shoe story was rather amusing so i had to share it with you.0 -
Yes, that is a classic. I did enjoy that one. I am sure we could both share a few strange ones given time to think about them. Funny what you see out there and sometimes it is just plain scary, don't you think?
Makes me think of a time long ago when a lady's car quit across the road from work. 5:00 rush hour traffic in a four lane road. We took the wrecker across and got it out of traffic and when I tried to start it the engine was seized. Checked the oil, which of course did not touch the stick. A breaker bar and socket did free the crank, at least for a little while. 3-1/2 quarts later it read full. I went up and explained to her she had run the engine out of oil, causing it to spin a bearing and her response was a very cheerful: Oh good, I thought it was something really bad! Enough said, she was not going to understand just how serious this might be until she saw the cost of her error. Actually makes a guy feel bad for them. swamp_thing0 -
...now don't start hugging eachother![;)][}:)] 0 -
I promise hugs are not included. I said it was funny, I did not say I was funny![:)] 0 -
did ya ever have anyone drive in with pantyhose in place of a belt?
I had a guy with a 94 accord do that once. he got it tight enough to drive the 5 miles to the shop before it slipped. how he did, and around all the necessary pulleys....i've used them for a quick fix on a v-belt but not serpentine.0 -
Nope, no panty hose, most of the people I saw preferred to keep driving with no belt until they could go no farther. Then when it did it was always, well, it never got hot but it did smoke or steam a bit. Oh yea, and why won't it start again? Had one guy drive right up to the pumps with his car really on fire, then tell me be careful it is hot. Said it started burning about a block back down the road. 0 -
i had that happen too.
guy came in to get some oil. I looked out the window and said "do you know your smoking?" he looked out and that's when we saw the flames lick out from under the hood. we popped the hood hit it with an extiguisher and unhooked the battery cables. after it cooled down we looked around and found the only thing (thank god) that was damaged was the alternator and belts.0
