    a few years ago, i had an 89 festiva. i took it to pep poys to get new pads and rotors on the front. just that and only that. the hub/rotor assembly had to be pressed on or else i'd have done it myself.

    so i take it there at 8:30am and watch them pull it in. mitchel flat rate +parts it should have cost me about 80-90 bucks. 7 hours later after complaining to the service manager 4 times they put it back together and i left to go pick crystal up from work. i get on the road and start down the exit to her job and hey...i'm not stopping.
    i zoomed around 3 cars, ran 2 red lights and got to a firestone. to actually stop the car, i geared down and literally used the building to stop. yes i hit the building, bumper to wall to stop. 2 techs came out and i told them what happened. they put it on the lift and saw that i had no pads at all on the driver side, my old pads still on the passenger and only one caliper pin period.
    because of that, firestone replaced all the pads, rotors and both halfshafts because the stop tweeked both. $800 and 2 hours later my car drove great. pep boys refused to accept responsibility because firestone corrected their mistake.
    that was 7 years ago and i haven't set foot in another pep boys since.
