Can't, I'd loose my clearance if I did.

Tried it twice. Didn't work. You have to be "receptive." I think that means weak-minded.

Never asked - my dad couldn't - a professional tried once, invited dad on stage and
    couldn't put him under.

Catpedaler, not to beat a dead horse, but I don;t know what you are talking about. I have had commander in operating room when I have been put under with narcotics but it has Never been required when hyptomitizm wias invomved. What is (was) your level of clerance that required such interest?? What was your area of special interal: aplha, beta, gamma, blue goose, manhatan, Sabre,Umbra, Noforn, or some other unclassified project now?? Tom

My wife was put under a couple of times. Her company used to have an annual dinner with entertainment. They hired a hypnotist a couple of years. Out of about 12 people they pulled out of the crowd, about half were hypnotized and the other half didn't go under. The guy got the half who went under to do silly stuff. It was very entertaining.

It has nothing to do with being "weak minded", just an ability to relax and trust the hypnotist.

In the AF if you're classified as PRP and have secret clearance and generally do what I do with and around the equipment I work with, hypnotism is considered a threat. They figure if you are susceptible to hypnotism, you'd be easier to break if captured and interrogated. That's the line they give us anyway. It's a question on the security paperwork I had to fill out, have I ever been hypnotized.

Typically only people and with focused minds (I was going to say intelligent but I don't want to insult anyone) can be hypnotized. Those without usually can not. They don't have the attention span for it. That is why children can't (in most cases) be hypnotized.

don't waste your money on the quiting smoking by hyptomizes i tried it with four of my friends my mom and brother. the only one it worked on was my mom and she said that the only reason she quit was because of the money she had spent on it. i have had three different people try to hyptomize me and none of them worked but i have seen people get it done to them. was kinda fun when we had a guy come to our christmas party that did that. he tried a experiment on the whole crowd to see who was capable of having it done to them out of the 150 people there 6 were the only ones that could be hyptomized. but man he had fun with those 6 people. one of them being my buddies wife.

I don't know what kind of mind it takes, but doubt I could be hypnotised. If a trusting mind, more doubtful.

I saw a buddies wife get hypnotized by one at club in Alaska and he had her say things that you would never hear come out of her mouth, it was hilarious and afterwards, she said "see I told you he couldn't hypnotize me" and everyone busted a gut.

On the other note, the old lady got it done for smoking, didn't work, but blamed me for it not working, go figure. just like the other 15 money consuming "easy quit" tecniques she's tried.

It's been over 45 years (TS/Crypto) for me but I don't ever recall them having any rule about being hypnotized. They did have us sign a statement saying we wouldn't use Sodium Pentothal at a denist's office for some time after we got out.

I did use a hypnotist to help me with going to the dentist & he taught me to hypnotize myself. I don't know how well I can put myself under but it does help to contol the anxiety of being in the dentist's chair. Actually it's not nearly as bad as it used to be. They have come a long way but I still have a lot of bad memories from the past.

I've been hyptomatrized multiple times and have hyptomized others. It's just various levels of trance or relaxation that can be brought on by many different things. For instance people go into trances in elevators and at stop lights. Confusion or fear can open people to suggestions as well. Those people you see on stage are willing participants. That's really all it is... Relaxing the conscious mind so suggestions can be made more easily. SUGGESTIONS. Free will always intact. PS Hypnosis and hypnotized.

I'll be damned if I ever let another person control my mind like that. Personally that crosses alot of lines that I want nothing to do with.
