Colt defender question
just wanted some input on whether to keep it loaded and half cocked or coked all the way with the safety on, or unload with no bullet in the chamber. this is my concealed carry gun

new colt 90 series defender 45acp...says 7 rds,if i put 7 rds in the mag,and charge it the slide will close about 95% then stop,if i put 6 rds in the mag and charge no issue,is this a mag issue,spring will loosen up ? 0 -
Cocked and locked with a round in the chamber...this is how it was designed to be carried...of course if your wife objects you can always sell the gun to a man.... 0 -
Ignore bondai, he has issues......he is however correct in that it was designed to be carried cocked and locked with a round in the chamber.
Once you have become comfortable with it and have a proper holster, Cocked and locked is the only way to go.0 -

Yes you were correct, but you were slamming his question and making a slightly underhanded comments about his manhood was not really needed.
Many people with little or no experience with a 1911 style firearm will ask this or a similar question. Giving him an answer with the extra crap was not necessary IMHO.....0 -

OK wanted to make sure that's how, i carry locked and cocked. just wasn't sure if there were any problems with this, glad i got the censuses 0 -
Carrying your pistol this way may give you an advantage, but it can also be very dangerous. I think guns that don't have de-cockers shouldn't be carried this way. 0 -

Joker5656 I carry a Colt Defender also. Best to keep it locked and loaded. I was also having issues with jams, a throat polish has eliminated the jams if you have this problem.0 -
If a person is experienced with carrying a 1911 style pistol and has a proper holster it is not less safe than a pistol with a decocker IMHO. But I have owned different ones over the past 20 years or so.
Like any firearm, if you keep your finger off the trigger, it won't go bang....[8D]0 -
Nothing's safer than cocked and locked. You could drop it directly onto its hammer and the worst result would be that the hammer might break off.
The only thing dangerous about it is the operator.0 -
I also carry a Colt Defender cocked and locked. Have never had a jam
(failure to feed or extract) problem with this pistol. I use Wilson and Les Baer mags.0 -
