Nagin promised to get New Orleans back on its feet and return the city to its former glory. Judging by the cities crime rate I would say they are back to normal :) The voters of that city must be so proud.

Was anyone running against him for the job? I know I would'nt want to be the mayor of that place.

Good for the NRA for helping out the gun owners down there.

Exactly. What has the NRA won? They still don't have the information and nobody is being sentenced to a long stretch in prison.

Remember Marion Barry, mayor of Washington D.C.? Admitted cocaine addict, convicted felon, and a total incompetent. What do the wise people of D.C. do? They reelect this clown! Ray Nagin, though not a convicted felon, has shown a gross incompetence in the role of mayor and the idiots reelect him! They get what they deserve. You can't fix stupid.

Where did this get left? Has the judge given them a deadline or just reprimanded them and forgotten about it? How many times could Joe Citizen be found guilty of contempt without going to the slammer?

You need to check out their news website to find out all the things the NRA is doing for you all the time. A big one was overturning the law in San Francisco to ban all guns. They won that one also. Its against CA law.

They only have a tiny percent of the population donating money to their organization so they can only fund some of the lawsuits that need to be funded. They have less than 10% of gun owners as members.

If all the 80 million gun owners joined we would be a strong voice that the Government would be unable to ignore!![:0][:0]

I will donate 100 bucks a month to the NRA starting the day they make a concerted drive to get a Second Amendment case before the Supreme(sic) Court...on Second Amnedment issues ALONE.

You're not joking. Even before Katrina I would go through New Orleans and I have to say it was the dirtiest and most ugly city I've ever seen.

400 bucks a month promised..and only a few people even read the thread.
One almost gets the impression that SOME people are tired of living on the edge of tyranny...and are willing to go the distance to get it right....[:0]

One wonders how much money the NRA could gather for a REAL defense of the Second Amendment...instead of the pretense they put up now.

Naturally..most of the top end would have to go...they are content to support gun controls...and oppose the termination of rougue agencies like the batf....

Yea, plus they stopped the recent gun ban in the city of San Francisco. People need to read the NRA-ILA website to keep informed.

But if you don't belong you have no right to complain![:(!]

Hey Sig, If I belong to an organization or not, I can still complain, I spent 4 years in the military to help keep this country a free nation and by god I can complain if I want to.

As a life member of NRA, I do have the right to complain and do so often and loudly. I also took my money and put it where my mouth was, i.e. became a life member of the GOA. They seem to be much more serious about the concept of zero tolerance and no compromise.[;)]

Agree with SIG, at least the NRA is doing something, they do have a political influence in Congress and liberals take notice of what they try to accomplish. What other pro-firearm group carries as much weight? We as voters can make a point at the ballet box, but how many of us take the time to actually write our legislators? At least the NRA has banded together a few million voices in one block.

Here's what happens when you speak and know nothing about what you're talking about. If it wasn't for the NRA you wouldn't be a tenth as free as you are now to own a gun. The NRA isn't perfect but it's about the only game in town. If you can do better then why don't you?

quote:"Once more, Mayor Ray Nagin and former police chief Warren Riley are held accountable for considering themselves above the law," said Chris W. Cox, NRA's chief lobbyist. "These men have had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, every step of the way in this process to return the lawfully owned firearms to their own citizens, and Judge Barbier rightly found them in contempt of court for their complete lack of respect for the rule of law."don't ever forget that you have to be prepared to do that. sometimes you won't be able to and you stay screwed. this is what it took. let's not allow ourselves to be in a situation where this is not available.
