Got this just a few days ago in the quail pen.When I found him he had little quail feet hanging out of his mouth.My nephew is 5'-4" tall

    Oh chit.

    If I was out in the field, I'd empty my entire magazine into that. Then, I might reload... at least twice.

    That's only a middlin' size one. They get lots bigger, but aren't dangerous at all.

    Except of course if you panic and hurt yourself trying to flee. [:D]

    not sure but looks like a harmless black snake. they help rid of all your pests mice moles etc.you should have just removed him away from your oen. sorry about the quail

    I welcome the harmless ones. It is the ones with the big fangs that I do away with. And then it is only if they are a threat or are too close to my house.

    But I also have had pet snakes. I am in no way scared of them. Heck last summer I even caught a live copper head just to show the kids what they looked like so they knew not to mess with them! But of coarse afterwards I killed it because I caught it near the house![:D]

    I don't kill snakes, harmless or not, but then neither do I raise quails.. Is it possible to make your coops "snake proof?"

    Phillip, get some guineas! They'll kill snakes of any kind and raise wholly h-ll when any other varmit comes around. I guarantee you won't sleep through it! Just don't park your truck under the tree that they are roosting in.

    I think were going to try some,I dont like killing the snakes cuz they do have some atributes.

    All snakes must die.........All snakes have fangs..........All snakes are evil.......

    The only snake I saw up in Oregon while out stomping around the woods. I screamed like a little girl jumped back and what surprised me is my 12 gauge had all shots fired before I landed back on my feet haha.

    I'd rather deal with a bear anyday rather then a snake.
