Another Firearm Shipping Question
I know that as an "unlicensed" person, I can sell, and ship a firearm to an "unlicensed" resident of my own state, and to a "licensed" individual in any other state.
This is in reference to an AK, BTW.
If I was selling one, I can ship it to another resident directly,..........yes I know, I am supposed to verify that the person is not a minor, and attempt to know they are not a felon.
What is the real deal if I am buying one from a person in my state, that happens to be a "licensed" person, and is shipping it to me, an "unlicensed" person?
Does this have to be shipped to an FFL for me, or can it come directly to me, as I am assuming it can.
We all know about assuming, that is why I am asking.
I will send a copy of my DL, and my Florida CCW also.
Just curious as to the legalities.
Thanks!

I think you are ok. In state shipping from FFL to none FFL is ok. As long as he has done all the paper work on you. If he is a FFL he should know the laws on this one.
Good luck and congrats on the new AK.0 -
Actually, that is the problem! This particular fellow, says it is illegal. Too far to drive and pick up BTW.
I realize that any FFL, can do as they wish, business wise, and I understand that, and have no issue.
I am simply trying to find out if it is "truly" illegal, from an FFL, to a non-FFL in the same state.
I know face to face is fine, and also between non-licensed persons in the same state, involving shipping.0 -
FFL to private sales require a 4473 to be filled out. To fill out a 4473 you need to sign it and there is no way to do that over the internet.
4473's are not required to be filled out on FTF transfers between people that is why a person can legally ship it to you.0 -
Thank you very much,.......makes total sense!
If something like that was not necessary, I should be able to walk into my local FFL, and not have to fill out paperwork! Duh.[xx(]0 -
No a legal transaction. You must fill out a 4473 somewhere. Either at the sellers place of business, a gun show, or at your local transfer dealers place of business. 0 -
I understand that,.......and that is the reason that he would have to ship to my FFL, and I still get to pay the transfer fees.
Thanks though!0
