How did it get this way?

People not only didn't care, they encouraged it!

    - Air pollution and water pollution: Many members are of the opinion that EPA standards stifle Business and that's bad. So what if we can no longer swim in our rivers or breathe our air on certain days? Business is happy and happy Business is good. "Someone needs to tell Feinstein, IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID!"

    - Erosion of the Constitution: what was it someone said? Oh yes... "They can listen in on my conversations all day long, I could care less. If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear."

    - Iraq: Oh come now... didn't you read the e-mail entitled "Did you know?" Iraq's not a clusterf*** of epic proportions, it's just not being reported with enough spin!

    - Fossil fuel dependence: "I like my gas hog Bronco! I get 16 mpg and don't really care about getting any better!"

The problem is that Americans have a tendency to think short term and do what feels good or seems like a good idea. We're too easily swayed by the media and talking heads and spinmeisters who convince us that a tax cut for the top 1% of America will somehow benefit the other 99%, that 40mpg for any car is beyond the realm of reality, and that asking for progress in Iraq is setting "artificial benchmarks."

And then we wonder how everything went wrong?

So in hindsight I'm going to have to correct myself - not only do we not look ahead, we have a horrible time looking behind as well.

    "How did we get here?"

Well golly gee, it wouldn't be six years of bull$#!t cronyism and fearmongering rule by fiat with another eight years of Hillary staring us in the face that's bringing this nation down, would it?

We need to stop living in the here and now. Doing so inevitably sets us up for failure in the future.

    We're being played.

What this country really needs is more shows like American Idol, Wife Swap and
Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader (sorry 5th graders)?

... what do you expect when there are so many cartoon summer reruns and not much in
the realm of 'real sports' going on?

We need a government with stugots instead of just trying to get votes.

That is why I am totally for term limits.

How do we even start ??

A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. We start with doing the little things that we can. And we vote for those who will help change the others.

To get better America has to flush our current leadership. There is not one person in office I truly beleive wants ONLY the best for this country. Our folks in office should make it their life goal to make this country unite, become stronger and embrace our constitution.

One thing though we have the hippy generation going through office right now. I'm curious how it will play out because alot of folks younger then that generation are entirely fed up with the PC poop forced on us.
