Just popped into autozone and had a trouble code read on my 99 F150 said P0171 which means bank one too lean. Well i need to correct this and I was wondering if anyone else maybe has dealt with the same thing.
First plan of attack is to check the MAF sensor because i do have an oiled air filter and the damn sensor may just be dirty.

    Good start. If that doesn't work then try and come up with a scanner. Check the actual reading on the TPS and MAF or MAP. Maybe a fuel filter, but that would effect both banks. O2??

    I hate to tell you this, but i had the same exact code on my 01 Isuzu, and.........it was a bad intake gasket[V]. air leaking past the gasket and causing the one bank to show a lean condition, lucky for me it was warrantied, but it was still a pain in the but as there are not as many Isuzu dealers as there use to be.

    really did it make a tone of noise? this motor does not even have 3,000 miles on it yet i would really hate to say it was a head gasket?

    Intake gasket is NOT a Head Gasket - it is between the intake manifold and the Head.

    Could be a vacuum leak - hoses split and or fall off, even when new. And since modern cars have a whole hatful of Vacuum hoses, it could literally be anywhere in the Engine compartment or under the dashboard...

    You could hear it sucking air, but not before it set the DTC's, i couldnt hear it untill i was driving it to the dealership for repair.
