Another Humane DOG Question

Zebra
A limping half lab and half pit puppy showed up about 4 months ago at our house. It took my wife about 6 weeks to gain his trust, hand feed him and try to pet him. Now he weighs about 70 lbs and is digging holes in the yard, finding trash and tearing it up in our yard. When the wife pulls up in the driveway and opens her door he literally tries to jump in and paws her before she can get her seat belt off. If you try petting the dog, he claws you and nips (has drawn blood on me)
I promised her I would'nt harm the dog. We dont have animal control services out in the country.
What would you do? Drive him up the road?

    Your dog is not doing anything that other puppies dont do....If it was a puppy when he "wandered" into your yard, it is still a puppy and needs to be TRAINED...

    Because she is his master, the one he loves, and is expressing joy at seeing her...

    Digging holes is something labs do and they chew..

    But they can be trained....all it takes is a bit of work..

    Your last sentence gives the impression that because the dog is not doing what you want or expect it to do, then its time to dump it...Take the time to work with it, train it, and yes they can be trained, instead of dumping it because it doesnt know how to behave yet...
    THe dog is already devoted to you both...If you took six weeks for the dog to trust you, then surely its worth another few weeks to train it..

    Sounds like a dog just being a dog to me. He needs training to learn some manners. You can't expect him to learn them by himself.

    If you won't spend the time to train him, then at least get into your vehicle, and spend some time driving, to drop it off where they DO have animal services.
    Don't make it someone elses problem,........how do ya think the animal was hit in the first place? Someone else dumping it off.
    Blows me away what people are willing to do, to avoid taking a moment out of their life to do something right.
    Yes, will the dog probably be euthanized if you take it somewhere,......but to me a hell of a lot more compassionate than leaving one to be injured or killed on the road.
