Bored well pump

Anyone replaced one? Is it just as easy as wiring it up and lowering it in?

    Pretty much.
    There is a special wire harness that they use, and the big thing is the connections must be waterproof, so use the correct ones. I have seen some just tightly wrap with electrical tape, but wouldn't do that myself.
    I replaced one years ago that was about 80 feet down, on black pipe.
    Whatever you do don't drop it as you are breaking the pipe couplings!![xx(]

    Got shrink tube to go over the connectors. That how far I'm going 80 ft. Pretty nervous about doing this myself as I have no clue really what I'm doing. However I don't wanna pay the $600-1000 they want to come do it. Already have the pump just need to get it done now. Thanks for your input.

    Shop around for another plumber. The last time I got a plumber/electrician to pull the pump it cost about $140.00, but I helped. It's not a one man job. You won't believe how far eighty feet is when you start pulling that pipe, and if the line and the pipe both break at the same time, God help you. Good luck.

    couldn't said it better. 2 men to pull a pipe. Replaced a 170' 4" well and it isn't really that bad. And the final touch is to make sure your seal at the top is good.

    I believe what you are referring to is a SUBMERSIBLE pump. If you have a good set of pipe wrenches, it helps to have a friend hold said wrench so it can be used to secure the pipe, as the other pulls it up.Set the wrench to the size of the "dropper" pipe, and between pulls you can slap it on, so you don't loose the entire rig back down the well casing.[;)]
    It's pretty self-explanatory. I have done prob 50 in the last 30 years.

    Bang,........it's no big thing as long as you are ready for it.
    Not fun,.........but no big thing.
    You will need a friend to help, or a tree or something you build overhead to use a chainfall, or such.
    I had a friend help, and we did it with a minimum of tools.
    Cut the discharge line, and when you take the split plate off of the casing, have a good hold on it.
    Both guys start to lift,.......if you get tired before the first coupling, use a large pipe wrench to hold the pipe across the casing top.
    Disconnect each section as it comes up, and repeat with the pipe wrench.
    Reverse the order, and rewire,..........you are done.
    The biggest worry is dropping the pump in the casing, or not properly insulating the power leads.
    Other then that, it's a no-brainer!
