....America has a serious problem with the Civil Rights Movement and downright racist leaders, and the silent majority is shut off from the media and without a voice, except for palces like GB here. It would be proper, IMO, to either stop this sort of rhetoric, or admit that this problem is long overdue for discussion without sounding like them....
This is so very true. Polite society in America includes all races, but polite society is forced to accept base behavior from individuals because they are members of a minority that has be persecuted in the past.

    Examples:
Bill Cosby, Colin Powell, and Condi Rice are referred to as House _____ because they operate within polite society.

'The Bell Curve' is called racist because it points out a descrepincy in black achievement, and because of that is discounted as a learning tool to correct the situation.

Likewise, Jimmy the Greek is Jimbo'd because he spoke an anthropological truth, but it was insensitive.

It is racist to point out that blacks occupy a disproportionate percentage of our jail and prison cells, but acceptable to suggest that this is because racist policies cause it due to selective enforcement by whites.

White-on-black crime, which is extraordinarily rare gets its own classification as a hate crime, when the leading cause of death of young black men is black-on-black homicide, which cannot be discussed because pointing out this fact is racist.

We are forced to respect the ignorant utterances of the likes of Conyers, Jackson-Lee, and McKinney, but are encouraged to dismiss the ignorant utterances of President Bush.

The racist policies of the current civil rights extortion groups to which you refer encourage strife and division to better line their own pockets. These policies actively encourage black / white racial tension, but, again, polite society is supposed to simply accept it. It is time to call a spade a spade and, as you suggest, address this problems as Americans, not as victim-Americans.

You are one sharp individual, Don. You will be immortalized for your knowledge of the above noted truths in the hearts and minds of future generations that make up America's polite society.

kimi- Please bear in mind that posting on the forum is not the same as speaking your mind on a street corner. There are rules established by the owner we all have to follow so we are simply not free to say whatever we like or say it in any fashion that we like. The First Amendment doesn't apply on the forum because it's a private enterprise.

SP: That's a good point that I do need to bear in mind when making posts. Thank you very much for coming straight to a legitimate concern. All to often it's so easy to become like family here on GB that some matters do not get nearly enough focus. Much obliged.

BTW, Cynthia McKinney has realized that she is fighting a losing battle trying to be elected for anything in Georgia, so she has registered to vote in California, claiming that she will soon be relocating there.

    She will fit right in.

McKinney registers to vote in California
Former congresswoman on ballot for Green Party presidential nomination

    By JEFFRY SCOTT
    The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
    Published on: 10/16/07

Former Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney seems to have ended any notions of running again for state office in Georgia and has registered to vote in California where she is still considering a run for president on the Green Party ticket.

In recent weeks McKinney - who last month posted a letter on her Web site declaring that she had no interest in the Green Party nomination - has appeared at fund-raisers in California, where a group named Run! Cynthia! Run! is trying to draft her as the party's candidate in California.

McKinney's name already is on the ballot in California, along with six other Green Party candidates, including Ralph Nader. She and the others were nominated by a Green Party convention in September in California.

The fact that McKinney's name remains on the ballot has given supporters hope, said John Morton, a California Green Party delegate.

"She's got us all guessing, but she hasn't removed her name, and that's a good sign. I talked to her last week, and she said she's very interested but not ready to make an announcement."

Two weekends ago McKinney attended a rally with anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan, who is running for the San Francisco seat held by Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy's Pelosi. Sheehan told the crowd that McKinney is running for president.

McKinney, who served five often-provocative terms as a U.S. congresswoman representing voters in DeKalb County and roughly the southeastern section of metro Atlanta, has been registered to vote in Marin County since May 4, 2007, according to records at the Marin County Registrar of Voters. Marin is a county north of San Francisco.

According to the Georgia secretary of state's office, she is still registered to vote in Georgia, but has not voted since December 2006. Secretary of state director of media Matt Carrothers said state law does not require she notify the state that she is now a registered voter in California.

"But since she is registered to vote there, she cannot vote in Georgia," Carrothers said.

Vicki Leidner, chairwoman of the Feminst Issues Group of the San Francisco Green Party, hosted a fund-raiser for McKinney two weekends ago when, she said, "we raised a good chunk of money, especially for someone who hasn't declared she is running."

Leidner said McKinney has sought to keep a low profile in moving to the San Francisco area, where she has been accepted as a doctoral student at the University of California at Berkeley. "After you been through the things she's been through, you learn to be a little quiet about things," Leidner said.

I would think that sending a hangman's noose to anybody with the intent of threatening or intimidating that person would already be illegal under laws against making terrorist threats, or stalking, or some such similar laws.

Of course, like any symbol a noose can be interpreted many ways and I don't think any one group or race can lay absolute claim to its meaning.

    Doesn't mean they won't try.

Seems to me those idiot KKK members used to drive around in cars threatening black people back in the 1950s and 1960s. Do we ban cars as symbols of hate? Before there were automobile they rode horses. Do we prohibit all images of horses? Where to we draw the line?

But kimi, some of your rhetoric gets a little strong at times. Try to keep your posts from getting too expressive.

I agree with your "noose" comments, Saxon Pig. Idiot KKK and idiot civil rights activists like these people are birds of a feather. I'll tone it down, though, regrettably.

well you see he is expressing his right as a non white to use the term "get a rope", advocating the hanging of white, now if a white member was to use that term in anyway whatsoever we would be racist, and be poofed

In fact, in Jena the white kids who hung the nooses didn't know about the racial implications, and neither did the black kids. It was only after it got outside of the school that someone jumped on it and turned it into a "racial incident." The white kids were very sorry, and apologized to their BLACK FRIENDS because they were not aware of the role the noose played in the history of racism.

After the Sept 20 rally in Jena, you may have seen a kindegarten teacher in Grambling, Louisiana with a noose around one of her children's neck as she "taught them that nooses symbolize racism." How racist is that?!? Besides incredibly stupid and dangerous. But she was black so it just went away.

I recently saw a comparison of the number of blacks that were hung during about 40 years from something like 1896 until 1936, which was the height of that era of "racism." There were less than 2,500. Yeah, that's a lot, it was wrong, etc, etc, etc. In 2005 alone, ONE YEAR, there were almost 8,000 blacks killed by other blacks. 3 times as many. Where is the outrage? Are Bill Cosby and Jason Whitlock the only blacks that care about such things?

Yes, Sin is all around us. Those who want to destroy us know what they are doing. Race is a Sinful illusion, just look at the deeds of those who cling to the sin of race most earnestly. If you have pride in your race, your pride may lead to sin. It is only natural law that to elevate one thing, another must descend in some way.

3000 Jewish Lawyers learned the hard way how sinful the illusion of race can be. When the Master returns I doubt he will consider such matters as race, as he always knew how to get to the root of a problems.

No, because they are 16 & 17 years old, and that hasn't happened in their lifetime, or probably the lifetime of their parents.

Before Jena you could have asked a teenager what nooses meant, and their answer wouldn't have had anything to do with racism. The real racists have opened old wounds by bringing that whole thing back up.

You can believe whatever you want but that is like saying people would not realize a swastika or a totenkopf has anything to do with racism.

Those on both sides knew what the symbolism meant.

Call me ignorant or uninformed, but I have no idea what a totenkopf is (or even how to pronounce it, who may have used it, what they used it for, or anything else about it).

Hmmm. Could the youth of today possibly be that ignorant?
