Why do we give in to these "imports"?

WHAT IS ABLUTION?

It is required that the water be moving, meaning they cannot dip their hands or feet in still water to complete the ritual.

In the parking lot where they wait to be dispatched, some fill plastic bottles with water and pour it over the right foot, then the left. Others clean their feet in the restroom sink.

Too much by far . What next? A Muslim holiday for 9-11 so they can celibrate it as a victory? Also, where in hell is our health codes for this? If they cant melt into OUR society as Christians, Jews, and other religions have its time for them to go back home. Not

I just want to throw out an idea here, but you know if they just took a good shower once a day they wouldn't have to take five little baths a day.

I agree with the need for any and all immmigrants to assimilate, at least to the extent of being able to function in our society without the society having to make concessions that add up to inconvenience for the rest of its members. It's not a racial issue on my part, at all; this applies to anyone who makes their personal issues part of my life, without my approval or consent; but when I go to buy something, or a service is to be performed that I have paid or am going to pay for, I really don't give more than a casual damn what's going on in the service provider's life. Do the job or let me deal with someone who will.
If someone is performing public religious observances, on the other hand, which have nothing to do with me, for me to be offended by that is my choice. I wouldn't give a decaying rat's butt if the legal, personal thing I was doing offended someone else -- I make the conscious decision to feel that way every time there's any issue about me owning and using guns. I don't have to care how anyone feels about it, and I don't. If I consider that I'm entitled to not care, because I'm neither breaking the law nor actually hurting anyone, then I'm obligated to extend the same courtesy to others. If the freedom and protection of the law, as exemplified by the Constitution, is not for every law-abiding citizen of and immigrant to this country -- that attitude essentially pisses on every expression and thought that went into the formation and building of this country, beginning with the words, "...all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
There are no P.S.-es or asterisks attached to the Declaration or the Constitution, by the way, and I resent suggestions that there should be in the same patriotic spirit that I resist any suggestion that the Second Amendment ought to be modified or abolished. The rules have worked -- for everyone -- maybe not perfectly, but well enough, for over two hundred years. And, FWIW, a number of the founding fathers expressed the specific hope that our freedom and way of life would come to include anyone in the world who wanted it.
Incidentally, being of Irish descent, you might think I'd jump on the "real American" bandwagon and be happy to say "hit the road" to those whose looks or customs are unlike mine -- but, during the 1860's and 1890's both, there were those "real Americans" who decided there was racial mixture enough in this country, and that we didn't need more foriegners coming here with their strange customs, and who very actively -- violently -- made it plain to the latest batch of the unwashed heathen that they weren't welcome.
The unwashed heathen, in those cases, were the Irish. My ancestors.
Prove a link to 9-11, even active sympathy for the terrorists who perpetrated 9-11, and I'm with you in telling the guilty party to get the hell out of my country. This includes a number of Americans whose families go back generations, here. In the absence of that proof, though, I'm against you and don't particularly care what you suspect or dislike about this, that, or the other person -- not even to try to safeguard the country against another attack by getting rid of anyone who is, in your mind, a potential troublemaker. There comes a point at which, when you've set aside enough of the concepts of freedom and tolerance on which this country was built, even for the purpose of saving it, there's nothing left worth the effort.
America isn't easy or simple. Those who want or try to make it so are missing the point.
All the same, wash your feet on your own damned time, and do it in approved facilities. If you're driving a cab or working a register, I've got places to be. Do the job or step aside for someone who will.0 -
