Mag-Lite !!! Pain in the *%#*#**
I'm on my 3rd. Mag-Lite that I can't get the bottom off to change the batteries,I just changed the batteries at deer camp in November[:(!]
It's not a corrosion problem.
My Dad had one a few years ago that we mostly destroyed trying to open.
Has anyone on here ever had this proplem with a "MAG-LITE"???????[V]

Never had anything but outstanding performance from a Mag-Lite. 0 -

The only time I can not open a mag light is when the batteries corrode. The its time to throw it away. I have several maglights and that is the only time I hate them. Don 0 -

The only problem I've had with mag-lites is the switches going bad on the two cell AA lights. This was when I was welding, so they'd get full of crap from that and short out. 0 -
Switch to Streamlight rechargeables. 0 -
The last time I saw a corroded battery it came out of a piece of equipment that had not been used in 15 years. And I can't remember the time before that. I assumed they'd come up with something in the design of the battery housing that essentially prevented that from happening any more.
Anyway, I never had a problem with a Mag-Lite.0 -

I have well over a dozen Mag-lite flashlights in various vehicles, pieces of equipment, and around the house. I have a AA two cell that I have carried in my pocket, along with my knife, for probably close to twenty years now. I have had two ruined by corrosion from failed batteries, but the only problems I've had with extraction of batteries that haven't totally failed has been with Duracell brand batteries.
They show some evidence of slight swelling as they get older, and I have had some occasional problems getting them out of the tube, even when they still had a charge left in them. This doesn't happen all the time, or even most of the time, but frequently enough that I've kind of moved away from buying them if I don't have to for some reason. I still end up with some when they come with something I buy, and I've still had the same problem on occasion. I think they may be a bit larger to start with based on how they slide down the tube, but I haven't taken the time to put a micrometer on one to check for sure.
I do put a thin film of vaseline on all the threads every year or so and it has stopped all corrosion problems.[:)]0 -

Only mag light I've had trouble unscrewing is one that my son screwed on cross threaded. That one came off extra hard 6 months later when I had to change batteries again. 0 -
My Mag-Lite crapped the bed after about three weeks in Iraq. There's a new industry standard. It's called Sure Fire. Mag Lite's are almost completely a thing of the past in the circles where I work. 0 -

I wouldn't trust a Mag Lite to work in triangles, squares, rectangles OR circles. I'll bet my life on a Sure Fire though. 0 -

I would'nt want to be the one that sues Tony Maglica,He's been there done that alot.If you guys have a problem with any of Mag's products let him or his son Tony JR. know.This is a very hands on company with a brand new facility in Ontario Ca. Also the only AMERICAN MADE flash light to the best of my knowledge.I worked for SR.and JR for about 6 months and they are 1st name people.

What is the altitude there?
It might be pressurized.

I have mag lights all over the house and work and never have had a problem.
I do apply a little grease to both ends on the threaded parts and on the O rings.

If your light is aluminum, AL has a tendency to seize. Apply a dab of grease, vaseline, or anti-seize thread compound. 0 -
I had that problem with a 4 cell D awhile back. I used a plastic handled rubber strap wrench after squirting it 3-4 times and letting it set with WD-40. The grease on the threads solves it. 0 -
What is it with guys and flashlights? We have a couple of the little rechargeable streamlites here at the house. I have ordered several for people...and it never fails....when it comes in guys ooogle over them like they have found some hidden treasure and try to get their hands on them. Its funny how "into" flashlights guys can get. 0 -

Rechargeable streamlight ultra stinger in the truck. love it!
By the bed is a surefire centenial (I think). 120 lumens-- blinding!trust it
I have a couple of maglites and they work fine but cost alot in batteries. And Ive had to throw one d cell out because it corroded up.I think it was a battery problem0 -
If you can't keep a mag lite in good order, then yo hve not business owning a flashlite at all. 0
