I've been a little too "short" with someone.....
An auction ended...and I sent the standard "hey there...this is what you do" message.
I got a message back saying "the phone number you gave is busy and I would like to get things handled on my end"...and it goes on to say..."would like to get things handled on this end and if no response Gun Broker support will be contacted."
I sent a very detailed message on how this goes...there is NO NEED for a phone call. I don't mind phone calls, but that is not what is holding this up. The fact that this simple transaction has to be so complicated for this person flew all over me like a bucket of hot mud. Next thing you know....I have composed a message myself to Gun Broker support....and in this moment of frustration I have called this buyer a "slow learner" and gone on to explain how I would like for them to send word to them on how this transaction works. Since my messages are not going through and they obviously need walked through this.
I have no idea if they sent this horrible message I have composed to the buyer....but I hope not. If they did, I really don't know if we will be recieving the payment and FFL for this one.

Some people just don't know how to follow direction's. Look's like one found you.[V] 0 -
When selling retail, you have to deal with all types. If you expect everyone to be a moron you will never have to get angry.[8D]
Never overcomplicate things. Remember the KISS principle. KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID.[}:)]0 -
Here's the basic outline for an auction winner.
HI, YOU WON.
SEND THIS AMOUNT TO THIS ADDRESS ALONG WITH A FFL (or C&R)
YOU WANT INSURANCE? SEND MORE MONEY.
THANKS.

It does work without detailed letters.[:0]0 -
LC - sometimes eMail disappears into a black hole or some random filter, which can be enormously frustrating to one or both parties. My SOP is to send the first msg through my regular eMail acct as a "priority" item with both return receipt and, within the msg body, a request for confirmation of receipt. If that doesn't work, I will use two web-based accounts (hotmail & gmail in my case) plus a message through the auction site's system. 99.99% of the time, by using four different accounts with four different servers, something will get through and then we use whichever account which was able to establish contact for the rest of the process. Some buyers seem to need to hear a voice to be convinced the seller actually exists (or something - I dunno). It's a bit annoying, but better do a deal than not. Up to them to call, though. 0 -

I had one of those buyers. Just couldn't understand why this guy had to do everything different ("his way"). I sent him my regular "thanks for placing the winning bid, here's how to get me paid and what I need for transfer, blah, blah" letter. He indicated that I needed to provide him with an appropriate time to discuss the transaction over the phone. What's there to discuss? Here's my name, mailing address and instructions to complete the transaction. I'm thinking, this guy must be lonely or something. We finally spoke on the phone and he seemed like a decent guy. I received payment and the signed FFL for transfer by Priority mail with delivery confirmation. * He had to know exactly when his payment arrived. Still couldn't figure out why he had to speak with me about the transaction? About two weeks after receiving the pistol, he wrote to tell me how dissappointed he was with the grip screw being "buggered up". Heck, the screw was visable in the images and I even mentioned that someone used an incorrect screwdriver and damaged the slot. I went so far as to offer him a refund, including shipping costs. He declined my offer and we've never exchanged feedback. [B)]
I think we've sold to the EXACT same person. "When to call to discuss the transaction". Sounds like a decent fellow. Gets gun then calls and wants a refund because he thought he was buying something else. Clearly said what he was buying in the discription and had 20 freakin' pics. I think some just try to pull the "refund" scam on sellers.

There are some "fussers" for certain out there. These are people who walk around 24-7 with a sour attitude and complain to no end about everything. If they go through the car wash it wasn't worth doing, the grocery store trip was exhausting, the weatherman was 4 degrees off, the neighbor's dog poos on their doorstep (when for real it is the neighbor themselves taking turns dumping on this ray of sunshine's doorstep.) You know when you have one in your midst...they think you are hanging on their every word...as they bicker and complain...you are a shoulder to bicker on and you know "exactly how they feel"...but if YOU turn into one of the people they turn on its no easier for you to get them to see things differently.
These people tire me.0 -
I still keep in close contact with the person I'm buying from until they have my money to make sure I'm doing everything I can. I also would rather talk over the phone then typing emails, It's easier and takes less then a minute if you get to the point. 0
