Safest and Most Dangerous Cities List
very interesting. i only read the top 10 of each. one thing stood out. the most dangerous cities all have democrat/liberal mayors. the safest cities had republican mayors. the safest cities were overwhelmingly white and the most dangerous were overwhemingly black.

The polls state that St Louis and Detroit are the worst. Where I live they will post your picture in the newspaper for writing bad checks at the least. We live in a safe community.
The worst cities I've ever been thru was Birmingham, AL and Atlanta, GA
I stopped at a gas station at 8 am to use the bathroom and the the guy behind the bulletproof glass handed me the keys with an ice pick attached to the keys. When I walked out to my truck, snaggle tooth hootchie mama's were walking toward me! I quickly left and learned to keep my gas tank full and my bladder empty when going thru those cities!
I blame crack for alot of crimes..

That can't be! The most of black people I know, oh hell, ALL of black people I know are nice and condemn the crimes and the projects. Btw, I know 3 black people. 0 -

saint louis has had a dem mayor since 1949, the violence coincides more with the......never-mind, facts just confuse people 0 -
Wife and I scared the snot out of ourselves by driving into Baltimore from the west on city streets. NEVER AGAIN!!! Blasted out buildings, with blocks and blocks of naked folks staggering around or fighting in the streets, bricks in the street, just busted buildings sticking up out of bare dirt yards, and no one following the traffic signals or signs - cars going the wrong way, etc. Could not believe our own eyes. 0 -

about 6 years ago, the mayor of st. louis was supposed to show up in court for something. he didn't. so he had a warrant out for his arrest. 0 -

I am shocked. St. Louis is a hole lot safer than East St. Louis, National City, Venice, Chicago, and most of Chicagoland. I've driven down Grand Blvd in St. Louis at 2 a.m. and gone through multiple drive thru's but it was nothing compared to East St. Louis at 5 p.m.
My wife worked with a black woman at McDonald Douglas that would not be caught in Granite City after dark. She considered it too dangerous for a single black woman. Go figure.0 -

Nope,.....not to me it doesn't.
My grandparents, and my mom, lived in some pretty lousy places in WV, and often had to borrow money from other family members that were better off than they were, for food.
Even though the places they lived looked like shacks to me,.......I have seen old pictures,......there was not trash, and beer cans all over the yard, and no person in my family ever commited a criminal offense, or turned into a drug addict. Also none EVER was on any Government program.
They did the best they could, and when my mom had the chance, she made the move to Florida to try and make a better life for us.

You can pick out individual families of any race anywhere that go against the norm, and my hat is off to such folks, their integrity and honesty and industry. That said, there were certainly plenty of families in WV and through out Appalachia, that were not like your family, that did have junk cars and beer bottles in the yard and did have family members being trained in useful skills in state institutions while the rest of the families were indeed on ADC, and unemployment.
You have to be able to see that something better is possible to beat poverty and hoplessness.0 -

Here again, fatherless children are not the root cause of crime, it is a contributing factor, one's values will likely dictate if a person resorts to crime or not.0 -

You are certainly correct on that.
I used to go back every year to hunt with my great uncle until he passed on.
I would see the single wides, and the shacks on the hillside, with garbage everywhere, and little kids running around naked in the dirt.
Plenty of people to this day that collect the benefits full time, or a good part of the year, after they get laid off by the mines. They turn it into a lifestyle, working a few months a year, and then sitting around whining the rest.
But if your idea that poverty creates crime, and hopelessness, is valid,..... why do a percentage not commit the crimes, and don't give up hope?
I would think that the effects of poverty would be a constant that drug everyone to the same level, if it is to be used as an excuse.0 -

I was born there, and there certainly is a lot of beauty there in the parks, and the mountains.
I have not been back to the areas I was referring to, for years.
I plan on going back one more time this winter.
I have a great aunt that is 96, and I want to see her one more time before something happens.0
