Home security system--battery question
I've got a Ademco home security system with battery backup. Battery requirement is: rechargeable, 12VDC,4AH (gel type)---charging voltage: 13.8VDC.
Question: Does the system keep the backup battery charged? If not, how are you supposed to recharge the battery?
I've read all the info I have on the system; but, there's very little info on the battery.

YeS,T he system charges its battery. This battery back up is done in case of power failure or someone cuts power to the protected premises. 0 -
last summer when we had the big storm and went without power for a week and a half, they told me the battery was only good for 24 hrs., it lasted 4 days 0 -
Yes, the system charges the backup battery.
They are good for 3 to 4 years typically,........that is if you have had many outages, and the recommended interval for replacement.
My first one lasted 8 years.
I just oredered, and installed a new one a few months ago.
