a few weeks back my cousin wrecked his truck.
The tire company wants his old tire,
come to find out, the tire was include in a recall.
type in recall,
the company was suppose to notify customers.
It could have been alot worse.

Seems to me there was something on the news last night about a tire recall...I didnt watch the full news show, but will try to find out what it was about..Found a link to it....Tires are from China..

CHICAGO, June 26 (Reuters) - A New Jersey tire importer has asked the U.S. government for help in recalling about 450,000 light truck tires made in China after a fatal rollover crash.
The case, under circumstances reminiscent of the massive Firestone tire recall during 2000 and 2001, is the latest high-profile incident involving faulty Chinese imports that have ranged from tainted pet food to toys with lead paint.
The tires, made by Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Co., have an insufficient or missing gum strip -- a safety feature to prevent belts from separating -- Foreign Tire Sales Inc. of New Jersey said in a report to the U.S. Transportation Department's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on June 11.
The importer of replacement tires told U.S. safety officials that tires sold under Westlake, Telluride, Compass and YKS names could fail at highway speeds. It also told federal officials that at least six other U.S. distributors had sold tires of similar construction by the same manufacturer.
Foreign Tires Sales also said a full recall might be forthcoming, but would force the company into bankruptcy because it did not have the financial resources necessary to complete it. That response has rankled the NHTSA officials and a consumer safety group.
"One of the things that concerns us greatly is that anyone can import these tires into the United States and there is no requirement that you have the ability to pay for a recall if one is required," said Sean Kane, president of Safety Research & Strategies, a consumer group.
The importer said in its report to authorities that it began to be concerned about the tires in October 2005 as warranty claims increased. In May 2006, it learned of a nonfatal accident caused by belt separation in New Mexico.
Foreign Tire Sales said it stopped buying the light-truck tires from Hangzhou Zhongce in June 2006 and conducted further investigation to determine the scope of the problem. Continued...0 -

Why on earth would anyone put a "made in China" tire on his vehicle? That just makes no sense to me at all.
Any climbers here? Do you buy Chinese-made ropes, carabiners, and so on?
SCUBA divers? How about a nice Chinese tank and regulator?
Skydivers? Would you use a Chinese parachute?
I realize that there are some places where you have little choice, such as when buying shoes, clothes, etc. Most of that stuff is made in China or some other third world dump. But, if your shoe sole comes unglued, or your pants rip, you don't generally die from that.0 -
My former neighbor is super cheap, he buys the cheapest of everything that he has. He has plenty of money, owns several rental properties and is twice retired (navy and gov't).
He bought a cheap tire a few years ago and had an issue on the road, got home and it had a giant bubble coming out of the side but not yet burst. He decided after that that maybe tires are not the place to scrimp.0 -

I wonder exactly how the coporate apologist will go about explaining this one. BTW Nunn, even if the tire aint made in china, I'd about guarentee you parts of it are. Such as the steele belting. 0
