Home is the Son...
The last Son that was still in a-place-that-cannot-be-named, put wheels down on American Soil at 0230 today. No rips, tears, or cuts. He returned with a Battalion guidon and a coin from them, as well as the highest federal employee award from our government. Don't remember what it is called - Medal of Freedom, maybe ??
I'm a pretty proud Father. Not too many Dads have the honor of two Sons winning the Bronze Star. Pretty appropriate day for his return, doncha think ??
Only one I'm worried about now is Darren, now with an 82nd Airborne Engineer company at Fort Bragg. Don't think he will be re-deployed, soon.
Please join me in welcoming all my Boys home, and praying for their continued safety.
Thank you for all your good wishes and prayers.
Doug

Yeah! What dad said!0 -
Give them my sincerest thanks for their service...
We sleep well at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on our behalf0 -
They are "Rough Men".
I'm constantly amazed by the accomplishments of my Children. People sometimes try to credit me with who THEY have become. Let me tell you, it was not me. All of them have succeeded on their own merits and work.
I'm so proud that they are related to me, that I could bust !!

Let your boy's know that us in the old guard are supporting them 100%
Doug, you might not take credit for the way your boy's have turned out, but the truth of the matte is that they could not have done any of it with out a strong Dad at home to give direction and encouragement when needed.0 -
Good to hear!! Please tell your boys thanks for me.

Eric, we did not become the old gaurd do to our age, we became the old gaurd do to our medical discharge. It's not a choice, but it was forced upon us, and we except it as our lot in this life, not to become bitter, but to encourage those who come after us.0 -
Welcome home!A toast and a big thank you. 0 -
