...sure is a big cult. I dont understand the "trademark" thing.
I know one Mormon family, not exactly enough to go forming many/any opinons on the whole group. These people are so freakin nice it don't seem natural [:0][:D]. A VERY VERY nice family...with 8 kids...guess with 8 kids you would learn to be nice...[;)]

almost every mormon person and family i have met are well educated, wealthy, nice, friendly, attractive, and overall good people. 0 -
Yes, they've always been a cult. However, they didn't trademark ALL angels - just one particular one shown below that is apparently being used for the coffee shop

I have met several Morman families over the past 5 years. They are among the most moral, ethical, polite people I know. 0 -
Have been around Mormons for many years. Have family that has married into the Mormans (and converted). As with most classifications, you cannot generalize. Most are wonderful people. Some are on the edge. Some think differently than most of us. Generally, they are religious, thrifty, good citizens that anyone would welcome into their community. Just my opinion. 0 -
I think 1911A1fan said it first: Any religion other than your own is a cult.
And as others have noted, Christians tend to dismiss any other Christian religion that doesn't have the exact same opinions on Jesus and worship God in the exact same manner.
IMO Jesus wants us to live together in peace, respect each other's religious practices even if we don't agree with them and worship God in our own fashion.
Sometimes I feel very lonely...

sure you are,,,look at all the comments just in this thread about how these other churches missed the mark....when you say that, you are saying in your opinion they are wrong and you are the one that is right,I guess maybe you are not trying to force someone to accept your beliefs but you are saying everyone else is wrong,,No one is trying to take away your right to state your beliefs but when you make the statements you make about other churches in an open forum you better expect someone to call you on it,,,you belong to a church,,thats great for you,,,but that does not mean the way your church {or you} interpret scripture is the only way or even the right way,,,maybe those churches that "missed the mark" are the ones reading it right and you are wrong,,,,my point was and still is,,,THATS GODS JOB TO DECIDED WHO IS RIGHT NOT YOURS,,,if you practice what you believe thats between you and God but its not your job to decided every other church is wrong and MISSED THE MARK0 -

I would agree with the first half of your post. You are wrong with the second half though. It is my job to steer people away from false teaching and I would be negligent, before God, if I were not to do so. If you had a better understanding of Scripture, you might have a different opinion on the matter.[:)]0 -

I don't consider them a cult. I think there is a definition of that that uses maximum number of members to define it. They have a revised view of Christianity from me - kinda in the realm of Southern Baptists or Catholics.
I think the radical, terrorist muslims should be exterminated.

+1 I am with Doug!
One of my best friends is a Morman and I don't see much difference in religious views than any other Christian group. They just have their own little spin called the Book of Morman. They are very supportive of their friends, their church and their community. Mostly pro-gun by the way!0 -

again you are making my point,,,when did God give you the devine power to decide what is false,,,maybe your beliefs are the false ones and other churches have it right,,,That is Gods job to judge ,,,not yours,,,If you want to steer the people in your own church ,,thats great,,,if you want to steer your own family,,,thats wonderful,,,but when you decide on an open internet forum to steer people from THEIR religion and tell them they MISSED THE MARK or call them a CULT because they dont read the bible the same way you do,,,you better get ready for someone to call you own it,,,0 -

...and again, I point to your lack of understanding of Scripture.
Let's look at a secular example here. Let's take the Constitution of the United States of America and soldier...or you perhaps. Let's look at the Second Amendment...someone comes along and says the 2nd Amendment does not apply to the people of America, but to the states...the gov't. They then start confiscating everyone's firearms. At this point, they become an enemy of the Constitution of the United States of America...and you have sworn an oath to defend America from those enemies. Are you going to stand up and declare that they are wrong or are you going to lie down and let them have their way with you??? Are you going to uphold and defend what you believe in (and your oath to do so) or are you going to let the enemy win.
In the light of God's Word, my conscience is clear...how about yours? You seem to have more of a problem with this than I do...even with your limited understanding of Scripture.[:)]0 -
quote:I point to your lack of understanding of Scripture
this is my last post on this ,,,everytime you post you prove my point again and again,,in your narrow closed mind you have decided every other church in the world is wrong because they/I dont understand scripture the way you do,,my point is again,,,,its not your job to judge any other church,,,they may be reading it the right way and you may be reading it wrong,Then again all the other churches in the world may be wrong and you may be right,,in scripture its states that little thing about it being Gods job to judge,,not mans,,,you need to go understand that little piece of scripture...Just because you believe something does not make it right or the only correct way,,,
you used an example,,,how about this one
I am going to church,,,there are 5 different roads that will get me there,,there is no right one or a wrong one because they all lead to the same place,,now there is a man on the corner that is telling everyone you have to follow his path because he is the only one that understands the road and everyone else is wrong and even when you try to explain to this man that all the roads go to the same place he still will only except his way ,,does that make the other roads wrong just because this one man believes so ??? they all end in the same place0 -
SaxonPig, you get to believe what you believe, and this this country (so far at least) you get to state it publicly. Can you understand why it pisses me off when you tell me what I believe? 0 -
You too, sharpshooter039. 0 -

The problem with your analogy is that there are not many roads...there is only one...and the Bible is VERY clear on that...the gate is very narrow and not many will enter. If there was more than one road, you would have a point, but there is not...and the Bible could not be more clear on this matter.
The world is blind to God's Truths...I pray that your eyes may be opened. This too, is my last response to you on this subject. Good luck searching.[:)]0 -
Yes and Catholics are Pagans. 0 -
First, I am not a Mormon. From what I read aobut them they are one good
religious bunch, doing no harm and living a decent life. Dont we have other "cults" and religions doing much more harm than good to worry about in this day and age??? Let us concentrate on the bad ones, not a good one.0 -
I wonder if the Mormons somehow related to the Moors? 0 -
Mormonism isnt a cult....Radical islam is a cult 0 -
JamesRK- I must have missed it. When did I tell you what to believe? I assume your comment isn't related to my one reply to this topic because I thought that what I said was to see Jesus as you want and to worship God in your own way. So when did I tell you what to believe? 0 -

You didn't tell me what to believe, you told me what I do believe. That puts you in company with HAIRY and Classic095. If it was unintentional, that's even worse.0 -
OK, I'm really confused now. Apparently I have unintentionally insulted you and according to you that's worse than deliberately insulting you.
[B)]
If I unintentionally apologize is that more sincere than if I deliberately apologize?
[8D]0 -
I apologize for SP's failure to adequately communicate.
I am levying a $10,000.00 fine upon him.
If you wish to help our Brother out, you may send money directly to me.
Doug0 -
Please don't unintentionally apologize. That would put me in a position of having to accept an apology which was never offered and that might cause a time warp or at the very least put us on the edge of the twilight zone.
You are a much more educated man than I am. I would think you know when you communicate things you didn't intend to communicate, you have told us what you really think. What you really think can't be apologized away. You can't un-ring the bell.0 -
Can to.
