Then my father put a seal on the fuel cap, what a sad world when a father can't trust his own daughter.

So feeling a loss coming on,He thought he'd be smart and send me to Indy for supplies for the shop knowing I would have to take the interstate and lets face it I can't get any kind of mileage on the interstate, but I surprised him and took back roads and smaller highways.

[}:)] I guess jacking up the rear and spinning the wheels a few miles would be cheating.

This was not mention, so it's okay. But I think I have this one. I'm at a little more than a half a tank with 430 miles. I have 320 miles to go. He thinks he has me, because I have to haul a car tomorrow. But I talked my Granpa into letting me use this truck for this.

Glad to hear that Dodge is what moves your GM's. Heck, you could up-rate that Cummins and give your Corvette friend a real tussle.

If you have a 3rd Generation CTD 325/600 or 325/615 and the higher gearset, I fully expect you to win that bet. Load will make almost no difference.

Your tank will hold nearly 40 gallons if you're patient. Speeds under 60 mph will easily return 20 mpg... Actually more like 22+ mpg. Take your time, be gentle, and you'll win that huge prize.

One note here... Winter fuel can be pretty poor. It's not that the truck won't do it, it's just that the fuel you feed it might easily drop you into the 17 mpg range.

By the way, I'm on my fourth CTD. I started with a '91 and each has been a quantum improvement from the last. I run a Edge EZ on the lowest setting and the old girl fairly dances when I hit the go-pedal.

Oh... An auto will do slightly better running a trip unloaded. Slightly better final gear ratio. The standard will do better pulling any load for the same exact reason.

Now... Dump those nasty GM's and get behind some real power. MOPAR!

I lost I only manage 710 miles. It wasn't even close. It really sucks. I thought I had it. My dad is out of town maybe He'll forget the bet when he gets back. Or maybe I won't go over there for a few days maybe he'll forget about it.

Well, you were good to within 95% of your claim. I know that doesn't help you win the bet, but in science we're very happy with a 95% confidence interval. I think you done good, and I think you should suck it up, tell your dad you lost, and pay the debt because: 1) getting within 95% is nothing to be ashamed of, 2) there is a fantastically liberating effect of being able to say, "I was wrong," while you're looking the guy in the eye, and 3) it's just the right thing to do.
