anyone else grill in the middle of winter
i spent this saturday rebluing a couple guns with my 5 year old son out in the garage and he seen the charcoal grill sitting there and asked if we can grill. well most of this month its been -20 to -40 and this last week its been in the 30's. so i figured what the hell and told him we would grill out supper tonight. well it started snowing pretty good. suppose to get 3 to 6 inches. but hey a promise is a promise so i took out the grill and set it up on the deck. started the charcoal and went in to and made up some burgers and grabbed some brats. well in the middle of grilling i had two different neighbors look at my like i'm crazy for grilling out. now i normally dont grill in the middle of February but i do know people that grill all year round. so i was wondering if anyone else grill in the middle of winter.

I'll grill in the winter, I use gas not charcoal however.
Why not do it year round [?]0 -
why not? anything above 25 degrees aint no problem 0 -
For sure! can be a challenge to get charcole hot enough to do the job,and can be tricky in the dark.I have a texas smoker-cooker, just put it on the outer edge of garage and sip a few Buds, incase of flare up[:D] 0 -
Year 'round, but what bothers me is now everyone calls it grilling and not barbecuing! 0 -
I grill year round also. The taste of carcass cooked on the grill is awesome in my opinion. I consider myself an excepional grill master. 0 -

I was once corrected about that and here's what I was told by a few pundits. Grilling is done without a sauce and over gas-heated rocks or modest flame while barbecuing is searing meat first over very hot charcoals or wood and then slow cooking it to completion with a sauce or rub. And I really don't care which is which because I enjoy them both immensely. [:p]
I only wish I knew how to get into modest smoking of meats so that my HOA wouldn't complain.[:(]0 -
Our gas grill is in the garage and we use it year around. Open doors and light her up! 0 -
I've grilled in a blizzard... If the cavemen could do it, so can I.... Yea I know they had to and that I don't. But thanks to their ability to survive and get'er done I'm here today. I ain't gonna wuss out on them or my taste buds because of a little cold. Besides the way our government handles things this might just be a necessary skill to have in your portfolio someday\\\\|||//// 0 -

I just refilled the FIVE twenty pound propane tanks I use for the grill. In Alaska I grilled at 25 below zero, here in Ohio NOTHING stops my culinary adventures with my Weber SILVER B Propane grill. 0 -
Here in Kentucky I grill / smoke year round. We keep a propane grill on our covered side porch. Bought a new grill today and had a few burgers for dinner. Nothing tastes quite a good as grilled.

I have a Weber kettle grill just out the patio door, and I fire it up year round. During the warmer months, we'll grill out more often as to not heat up the house using the stove. 0 -
Yep year round. The grill sits right in front of patio door,I don't even go outside. 0 -
I would, but I've got nothing to grill. I want to have brats one of these days....
Take your favorite beer and fill a pot with it. Put favorite brats in pot-full of beer. Boil until brats are gray in color. Remove from beer without breaking skin. Grill over charcoal (not gas). Serve on whole-wheat, seasime seed buns with Bavarian-style sourkraut with your favorite beer (fresh stuff, not the stuff you boiled the brats in), Bush's Original baked beans, and Ruffles Original potato chips.0 -
Did earlier today. Grilled some deer burgers for dinner[:p] 0 -
Year round.
Maybe not as much in the winter, but still at least once a week.
My thing is to do a pit full at a time, like last week,Wally World had leg quarters at $.39 a pound for a ten pound bag.
Do the whole batch and eat on'em till they're gone, then do another pit full of somethin' else.
Mrs.Wins likes the idea of not havin' to cook so much after workin' two jobs and since I'm around the house a lot these days,it gives me somethin' to do.[;)]

What the hell's thge matter with you, boy?!?! NOBODY in their right mind puts sauerkraut on perfectly good brats!!!*LOL* My brother likes 'em that way, he's 'tarded too!0 -
Sorry, but that's the way us Wisconsinites usually like our brats. Unless they don't like kraut, that is. But most of the people I know will get their brats with kraut. 0 -
Heck, I grilled tonight. Boneless pork chops, grilled veg, garlic bread on the grill...a nice glass of Woodruff Reserve bourbon kept me PLENTY warm out there... 0 -
All the time-Once or twice a week.
I bought the huge double charcoal grill at Sams Club for $200.00.
Can open and cook on the whole grill or put in the barrier and grill in one half at one temp and the other you can smoke in or build a different size fire. Also, has holes for a rotissiere' (sp) as well. Has crank up platforms to raise or lower coals on both sides. And a pull out drawer to scoop out the ashes.
I buy 6 or 8 bags of charcoal at a time and just stack them on the deck near the grill. Also have 2 smaller grills. And another in the garage. Wouldn't own a big gas grill. Only charcoal for me. And some smoking wood to throw in. Had steaks on Saturday, grilled fish earlier in the week.0 -
In northern Michigan I grill whenever we get the taste for a good steak 0
