I bought my first 1911 last month, man, why did I wait so long?
Anyway, when taking it apart to clean it, it is very difficult to remove the barrel bushing. IN order to turn it sideways to remove the spring you almost have to use a key or something it's so difficult to get enough pressure on it with your fingers.
is this normal?
Other than that, man, it shoots awesome, it's a mark 4 70 series with a G serial #, has a trigger job (which also is an issue, it's so light that I fired it double a couple times accidentally) but very accurate.

Magazine is out cause the loaded gun is usually in the bedside table, and I took the mag out for the pics...
yes there is a wrench you can use and yes some can be very hard to take apart...0 -

Yes, jesnlsn the wrench holds in the guide rod spring plug while allowing one to turn the barrel bushing. That's the safest way to avoid putting your eye out from a flying plug.
I used to use the wrench, but now live dangerously, pushing the plug in with the end of a Sharpie marker [the plastic will not scratch the stainless]; once the pressure is off the bushing, it should rotate freely. It may want to turn one direction rather than the other.0 -
