OK, the gals can play too, but remember it IS math, so...

Given a transmission overdrive ratio of .71, and a rear tire height of 31", calculate rear axle ratio.
P.S. The dealer sez the speedo is working fine and they can't find anything wrong with it.

Iam not doing any math, but 110 MPH and taking pictures.... I hope it was on a dyno.
And 2,200 RPM at 110 MPH... thats one hell of an overdrive.0 -

Small gauge at the bottom of the tach. Tell me that does not read 0 oil pressure??? 0 -
Most speedos have a hard stop at the high end. I know that from setting so many back before it became a felony! That said we don't know how fast you were going. Pull that puppy down where the speedo is in range and take the pic again. 0 -

Looks like a turbo boost gauge to me. I think the oil pressure is on the lft of the speedo.

I have a question.
You were driving 110 and taking a picture at the same time.
So 1 hand on the steering wheel and 1 hand on the camera.
How were you able to drink your beer?[:p]0 -
-Not on a dyno, pic was taken while driving.
-Gauge on the bottom of the tach face is a turbo boost gauge, just loafing along at that engine speed. Left side bottom is fuel, L top is oil pressure, R bottom is engine temp, R top is trans temp.
-There is no physical peg on the speedo face, the needle could sweep all the way around if it had a mind to.
-So, 1.31:1, not so good for towing, eh? Thanks, v35, I was wondering if it wouldn't be less than 1:1!
The speedo started going wonky by reading low. I'd be tooling down the freeway and notice it said 30 mph, think I had been snoozing and jump on the throttle hoping nobody had noticed. Finally realized it was reading wrong, when I noticed the landscape getting blurry. Then less than 1,000 miles later it started reading way high, even further than in this pic. It'll be fine for a couple thousand miles, then have a day where it reads all over the place, then go back to normal again.
Strange thing is, the cruise control still works fine! I just get the r's up to about where 52 meters per second is (as in the photo), engage the cruise and it holds steady regardless of what the speedo says.
I'm thinking it's a gauge problem, as opposed to a sensor one, but like I said, the dealer doesn't have a clue.0 -
