    It could be, I posted it on a couple of other gun sites. I tried to get some of the big after market parts makers to make it or manufactures to include on their guns, but they said "good idea", and that was about it. This idea is ten years old and I figured I would share it with the gun communittee, rather than have it just adorn my gun and sit in the safe. Maybe if it gets widespread use, I might someday benefit from one of my inventions being widley used - you know, develop a reputation of sorts. Thanks for the compliment. I have another invention on You Tube that I have patent on, this one I don't, that I'm trying to get to market. Let me tell you it's a tough row to hoe.

    Unless you have a lot of money to throw into marketing your devices, it will be difficult.

    Super; You need to work on your punctuation. The way you type,it's nearly impossible to tell what you are trying to say.
    I had to read it 3 times,before the little light came on..Great idea, and not a gimick either!

    You can't patent something that has been published for the public to see.

    You need to have "Patent Pending" prior to publishing it. Trust me.


    2 years prior to getting "Patent Pending" you can file paperwork for a couple dollars with the patent office....and get some rights to the product......but if it gets published publicly...you may or may not lose rights to it.

    ""A service provided by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO or Office) is the acceptance and preservation for two years of "Disclosure Documents" as evidence of the date of conception of an invention.""

    Most inventors die poor.

    One way or another, the burden is on the patent or trademark holder to defend their "rights" in a civil action. It's not as if the patent office goes after people for possible infringement.

    In other words a patent or trademark doesn't make you immune from others copying your work. It just gives you a leg to stand on if and when you drag them into court.

    If you can't fade the attorney fees to get the ball rolling beyond sending a cease and desist letter, holding a patent or trademark means nothing.

    I realize that I have foregone any chance of gaining patent on this because I have shown it publicly. I think I still can apply for patent if I act within a year. With two patents under my belt, and not to earn a dime on them, I am leary about throwing any money at an idea. If you check out the You Tube Video you will see the CD Storage concept I have a USA Patent on. This was almost manufactured by two big firms, won canada's largest invention show, and has two positive market assesments, yet still no takers. All this unfolded over 8 years and thousands and thousands of dollars. I think I know a bit about the intelectual property game, therefore I felt what the hell, I'll share my adaptation with the .45 enthusiasts. I have tried to market this to all the manufacturers of guns and parts and no one was interested enough to make it.

    Well, it's... interesting.

    However, I feel the extent of it's practical moment is to make me go "Huh - look at that."
