    A proper-fittin' punch and a hammer are the preferred method. There are punches specifically for roll pins, might want to look up one of those if you're having problems with the pin deforming and not moving out the way you want.

    Do you have the sight/barrel braced against something solid, like a block of wood on a stout bench? If what you're trying to hammer can move around that'll absorb some of the energy of the hammer blow.

    Maybe you just need a bigger hammer!


    FWIW I put the Choate "recoil compensator" on my mini's, just using a hacksaw, files and hammer and punch.
