FOND DU LAC, Wisconsin (AP) -- A World War II-era plane made an emergency landing on a southeast Wisconsin highway Sunday, snarling traffic as authorities worked to remove it.
No injuries were reported after the plane landed on U.S. Highway 41 near Fon du Lac County Airport shortly before 8 p.m., authorities said.
"A person called and said that there was smoke as the plane came down," said Andy Dothone, a state patrol dispatcher.
The highway was closed in both directions as authorities worked to move the plane from the highway, but vehicles were eventually able to pass on the shoulder, he said. Watch as traffic tries to get around plane ?
The Oshkosh Northwestern newspaper reported that a man and his son were flying the plane to an air show in Oshkosh.

Looks like a T6 Texan or some variant. 0 -
vid worked fine. 0 -
Used another browser - yep - T6 Texan.
When I was a kid, a friend and I were at a
swap meet (flea market) in National City
and watched a T6 land across 101 with
it's gear up. Everyone ran across 101 and
were amazed to find the very red faced
pilot standing next to a near perfect T6 -
only the props were bent. They were made
like 'aluminum' bricks!

Zip: I concur. About 8.5/1 glide ratio. Same as a Piper Cherokee. The T-6 has to do it about 40mph faster, though. Best, Joe 0
