BD Luger (more showing off).
My mother bought me a Luger for my 21st birthday. It was nothing rare or special, just a WW I issue DWM dated 1918. But it was in very nice shape.
In 1986 all of my guns were stolen in a burglary including the P08. I found a replacement offered by an Illinois dealer. Also a 1918 DWM this one had been used by a unit of the Wolfsburg Police Department and is so marked.
Of course, it's not the same as having the original back.

Anyone else got a Luger hanging around? Go ahead, bragging is allowed.

Nice Luger[^]
That must really suck to get your collection stole. Were any of them ever recovered?0 -
Four were. A 1911 Colt was recovered within a few days. An AR15 was recovered in a few weeks. After a year a Cogswell & Harrison double rifle was recovered. And in 2003, 17 years later, an H&K Model 91 was recovered.
I still have hope.0 -
It looks like it has the police safety retrofit.
A German relative of my wife told me of an accident involving a loaded P08 upper going off in the barracks. The police safety is intended to prevent that.0 -
Nice luger. What's a police safety? All I see is what I have on mine.

On the unmodified P-08 the upper alone can fire by pressing down on the sear bar.
If you look carefully at the rib which protects the sear bar, you will make out a flat spring pinned to the top of the rib.
This mod prevents the upper from firing if it is loaded and separated from the frame.
It's my understanding it was a police and not a military mod.0 -
V35: thanks for the police mod. info. Didn't know that. But I can't make out any detail on SP's Luger. Still looks the same as mine in my signature box. All I see is a black shadow. Need to re-set my computer screen resolution, or something. Again, thanks. Joe 0
