They were saying on the radio yesterday that milk will be $5 a gallon buy the end of summer. I know here it has gone up to $3.99 a gallon in some stores. The local Citgo used to sell it at $1.99 a gallon, I would go in and buy a couple of gallons on the way home. Now they are at $2.79 or 2/$5. 0 -
... I wonder what it costs in Alaska. My sister lived there working in the timber industry, while her husband worked on the pipeline. She said all food was high priced, but milk was the worst. 0 -
Milk is very bad for you and you shouldn't be drinking it anyway. Look it up! 0 -
Farmers won't see the profits.
2 cows can make a hundred weight a day. (almost 12 gallons).
The Farmer makes let's say $21 for 12 gallons. That's $1.75 a gallon.
The distributor buys it...waters it down and rakes in the profits.
Lesson is...buy your own cow and sell the surplus milk.[:D]0 -
The price of feed grain dictates the price of milk and other food stuffs. Right now a lot of these grains are being used for bio fuels.
If the supply of oil keeps getting low for any reason, we will be burning up our food in our vehicles.0 -
It is the cost of the plastic used to make the Jug. [:D][:D] 0 -
We shouldn't be drinking it anyway, why? because human beings are the only mammal that continues to drink milk after being weaned in the entire world, think about it![:D] Loko[8D] 0 -

I kinda gag at the thought of drinking plain milk, but I don't think I could do without milk by-products (cheese, chocolate, etc.).0 -
Odd that theres no National outcry about price gouging or demands that the Government 'do something about it', but put 10c on a gallon of gas and the publics baying for blood. 0 -

Price of inputs has nothing to do with the price of the final output.
It's strictly supply and demand. The supply of milk vesus the demand for the milk.
You can spend $100 to make a pound of worthless crap. The time, effort and cost of materials is irrelevant. What matter is if the public wants to buy what you made.0 -
yeah, milks bad for you...ha. i'll think of you when im standing tall in my ole folks home and they wheel you in bent over from ostiporosis like the evil wicked witch of the west.
CALCIUM IS GOOD FOR BONES!0 -
Milk DOES NOT operate on "supply and demand".
The price of milk is artifically set by the government! The actual "cost" of milk isn't what you pay. The "cost" is set higher to protect the "family farmer".
Of course, there aren't very many "family farmers" left these days, just huge corporations sucking on the government teat via subsidies........
Merc (I grew up on a farm, and still know many dairy farmers.)0 -
Hello All[:)]
I guess price increase for milk from the farms isn't our only problem. This link is a Utube video about news distortion and Monsanto Company. It is kind of scary...but very interesting.

Local little store went from $4.00 to $4.40 a couple of months ago.
Quite a little jump. [:0]0 -
Price of corn has no bearing on the price of milk or the price of beef or pork. 0 -
Strange, I've been paying $3.99, i.e. $4, for the last few years I think, but again, I don't pay attention to prices of groceries. 0 -
$9.00 per gallon in villages along the Yukon according to the Fairbanks Miner and Anchorage daily News 0
