Surveillance video tapes, similar to the old 8-track audio system, would run continuously. Usually never less than 24 hours, or more than one week, depending on the speed the tape is set to record at.

God only knows what was taped over. It's a bona-fide "ghost image", but it is not paranormal. It's an old image that wasn't erased completely. Old, re-used tapes run into this problem, when they are pulled for viewing. Joe

How convenient that people's eyes can't see the "ghost" but the security camera can.

Listen to me folks. GHOSTS DO NOT EXIST! Neither does the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, etc.

Yes there is a Santa Claus, because I'm living proof, so there must be ghosts! Boo!

maybe you can explain this. in 1987 my father died . six months later on a sunday morning i was sitting in a chair reading the paper, as i turned the page, i happened to glance up at a very old shiney brass kerosene light that my dad had given me many years ago.as i looked i yelled oh my GOD kathy come here.i then asked her to look at the light (not telling her what i am looking at) and tell me what she saw. she exclaimed the same phrase, oh my GOD it's your dad, as we stood there in tears, the image slowly faded away. there were no pictures to reflect the image. it was as if he was letting us know everything was ok

What you saw seems to have made you happy and at peace and that of course is a good thing. . But surely a real ghost could do better than provide a weak, faint, image from a kerosene light. (no offense).

If ANYBODY here has a ghost they want to tell me about, don't just tell about it. Have that ghost come and tell me itself.

Well.....OK.... apparently I was wrong about the Santa Claus thing. But I'm not changing my statement about ghosts, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.

Surely not. Why would he be offended, a ghost authorithy just told him his father didnt appear before he and is wife in another form. At least now he can have some closure knowing an expert has debunked it.

I don't claim to be any kind of expert. Just a guy that quit believing in fairy tales in about the 5th grade.

Besides, why not give the man a chance to speak for himself instead of you acting like you are his personal representative?

So, because you dont believe (scared[:0]) in ghosts, makes it gospel? So much so that you would call it a fairy tale? Oh yee.

Ive seen similar appearences on video when looking at the tape for gas drive off's or shoplifting. They record over the same tape again and again and you can get distortion on the tape. I truly believe he seen his father, Ive heard of several instances like this. Some stores now use disk which are much clearer and you cant record over them.

Well, OK, but (in red above) since you didn't mention that any words were exchanged (everything is OK, I'm fine, etc) why do you assume that his appearance was a message that everything was OK? Not trying to be smart here, just asking a logical and truthful question. How do you know that his appearance didn't mean that maybe everything WASN'T OK?

It is fair of me to ask this question because my mother died in Aug. of this year and she has not come back and made any appearences to tell me everything is OK. So going by your explanation I would now have to wonder if maybe everything is NOT ok.

Perhaps people find it hard to believe in ghosts because if ghosts are real, then life after death must be real, and thus some people will spend eternity in heaven and most will spend it in hell accordingly. I believe that there is life after death, and thus I believe in ghosts/demons/God, though I have never seen any of them myself.
