It is mead, which is a wine made from honey.

Mead is one of those you either love it or hate it things. Personally, I hate the stuff. Tastes like drinking sugar.

The jury is out, meaning that the verdict is in.

Yep, mead tastes horrible. But, there's a lot of people that do enjoy it.

Wine at 100 proff, which is 50%, is a lot of forification. Yeast can't live in alcohol much past 12.7%.

I love mead. I had a friend in the Navy who made his own beer. We made a batch of mead one time and I have been hooked ever since. The stuff that we made was pretty stout (about 30%), but I haven't seen anything that strong before.
If you hate it, send it my way!

It's only 25 proof. Kinda weak. Will taste too sweet...unless they have bitters in it. Irish Mist is a [meade] and it is 70 proof. Drambuie is a scotch/meade mixture. Don't remember the proofage.

They all are really too sweet neat. Perhaps on the rocks, or in a pastry recipe?? I'm going to research the varied cooking/baking applications for meade. Perhaps I'll come up with something tasty. Gotta go....I'm getting hungry. Joe
